As I do every morning when I wake up, I turn on my work computer and prepare the first coffee of the day. It is my faithful companion to start the daily day, and I am his only company at barely 6 in the morning. Just me and him, because sugar is no longer a complement to it, and I have become accustomed to its genuine flavor with no other additive than water. But there are moments in the day when I enjoy my coffee with other companions, and the ones I like the most are cookies.

A few days ago I met a friend of mine who is preparing delicious homemade cookies. They are huge with chocolate chips and chocolate covered with caramel. I can assure you that these delicacies with a cup of coffee taste great. Whenever I can I buy her a combo and eat them in the middle of the morning or during the afternoon snack. I am fascinated by the phrases he puts on them, the kind that lift my spirits.

This week I also took the opportunity to buy at the bakery, some sweet breads filled with custard and sprinkled with powdered sugar, which I accompanied with a rich coffee with milk and chocolate, very hot, this turned out to be the perfect combination. I enjoyed them at dinner, one of those days when the rain gave us a very cold afternoon. The combination of coffee with chocolate has always been one of my favorites.

But at coffee time, whether in the middle of the morning or in the afternoon, the accompaniments can be very varied, and if I don't have at hand some delicious cookies or sweet breads, some tequeños, pastries or a good piece of cake can also come in handy, as well as an arepita for breakfast with my coffee with milk or a sandwich.

Variety is the spice of life and when it comes to coffee, the ideas to accompany it can be very varied and original. We can even moisten our cookies in black coffee and feel the mixture of flavors diluting in our mouths.
