I'm seeing quite a few Russula mushrooms growing in the woods near my cabin.
I believe they are the Red Russula emetica.
Non edible.
They are a very beautiful fungi.
Very easy to see on the forest floor. I say that because many mushrooms can easily be overlooked and passed by due to their earthy coulours tones.
They are in different stages of development.
I enjoy seeing the Transformation.
Absolutely amazing.
The above and below are the same mushroom.
I waited a day and night and took an updated photo.
Some little critter nibbled on this one.
Perhaps a chipmunk or a squirrel. I noticed not very much of it was eaten.
A new find for me.
🤔 I think these might be Lobter fungus.
(Hypomyces lactifluoru)
I welcome suggestions and thoughts on their identification. They growing right on the very edge of my road.

Ooo wow that is a nice lobster :-). It probably parasitised a lactarius of some kind. You can dehydrate them for good soups.

It's my first time seeing them in the real. I Have seen pictures of them.
I only saw just the two of them.

I've only found them a few times as well and only in 1's or 2's not enough for a meal. So basically I have to dry them and wait for enough to make a meal someday.

😊I found a huge
Berkeley Polypore today. And a couple of others nearby. The huge one was past its prime 😔.
I know, I cheated and bought some dried lobster mushrooms from whole foods to finish out my finds lol. Did you harvest any of the berkeley's? They are a bit more bland than chicken of the woods but with enough spice and the right harvest time they can taste pretty good.

I didn't harvest any of the Berkeley's.
The big one was past prime.
I'm going to take another drive there and check out the smaller ones.
I'm really not good at all in coming up with the right spice combinations.

Some fungi are so difficult to identify, those growing on the side of the road look similar to some I found awhile ago at first I though children had stuck gum down, only looking carefully I found it to be a fungus growth.
Red in nature is normally a warning to stay away, I may be wrong, very pretty to look at through different stages of growth.

There are different kinds different Russula mushrooms. And some that look a like. I definitely don't take any chances. Beautiful mushrooms can be poisonous.
I truly enjoy seeing them and taking pictures...🌞.
I always photograph, look then research, never pick to eat since I know very little about what would be safe to consume.

Much caution and research is definitely needed before eating them.

I still look and harvest the ones my Grandmother taught me was edible when I find them. I will always miss spending time mushroom hunting with her.
My oldest brother was knowledgeable about which mushrooms were edible, alas not so in my case.
