Off track Wednesday Walk, Visiting several Public Gardens and other Interesting Places [EN -FR]

(Edited)

Today I'm taking you on one of those walks without a predefined plan, according to my desire to discover this city that I already know well. But if you keep your mind and eyes open, there is always something new to see...

Here, we are in the north of Paris, somewhere near the Chapelle district, where you can find a large Indian, Sri Lankan and Tibetan community. Here, all the railway lines of the Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord meet like several rivers in one. It's a bit of a crossroads, with an infinite number of different itineraries...

From the Chapelle, we reach the Goutte d'Or district, above the Barbès station. In its heart, we find the church of St Bernard, which I could not enter today as it was closed. Just opposite, there is a square of the same name, all planted with lime trees.

Here, a small tribute in the form of a wink to @mipiano... This is not a piano ^^. This place is a rehearsal and small concert room that I often come across during my wanderings. Here, we are on the slopes of the Montmartre hill.

IMG_6329.JPG

After some shopping, we head back to the Canal St Martin, which runs from La Villette to Bastille, especially on an underground section.

IMG_6884.JPG

Just across the street from this portion where I took my picture is the Jardin Villemin, one of my favorite green places. The reasons for this preference are rather obscure as it is neither one of the largest nor one of the most beautiful, but its central position and general shape are perhaps part of the answer...

IMG_6877.JPG

That statue at its centre must also tip the balance, as I spent many hours reading next to it and I believe that in places where you spend a lot of time, you also leave a bit of your soul !

IMG_6881.jpg

IMG_6878.jpg

I like the small details like this turtle, symbol of constancy and long time, which supports the whole...

IMG_6882.JPG

This time we have made good progress, as we are in the Marais district, near the Picasso museum...

IMG_6976.JPG

This garden is a real discovery : I had never noticed it before. It was created in 2019 and maybe that's why I didn't notice it before... An association manages a small garden with a compost and some plots.

IMG_6977 2.JPG

There is also a beautiful book box with a sober and uncluttered design and I couldn't help but think of @coquicoin who was talking about one of those places where you take, give and share books (or other things !)

IMG_6968.jpg

IMG_6971.JPG

IMG_6969.JPG

IMG_6975.JPG

Just down the street, the massive door of a private mansion. I've been photographing Parisian doors for a few years now and I'm thinking more and more that I'm going to end up doing a book about them, so interesting are these architectural elements in their shapes and diversity !

IMG_6967.JPG

We end this walk with St Paul's church, at the metro station of the same name. Believe it or not, for more than fifteen years here and after having passed maybe hundreds of times in front of it, I had never been inside !

It's now done, even if I didn't go for a full tour. I had an appointment quite close and as it's still the holidays, it was very crowded, but it's only a postponement :)

I hope you have enjoyed the visit, don't hesitate if you have any questions. Thanks to @tattoodjay for this beautiful #WednesdayWalk community :)

I hope you have a great day !

Hey @joanstewart !
I'm super glad you enjoyed this walk by my side :D

As I said in another comment, Paris is a city I love, but maybe more for visiting than for living there every day... But let's not complain, it's still great and full of surprises!

Thanks for your support and your visit, I wish you a very good day 🍀 😘

Hahaha, I couldn't help it 😅

Thank you for the mention and remembering mipiano because of the piano

Oh no, no need to see one to think about you !
Sometimes it's just seeing music scores or anything else related to music, just kidding ^^

Thank you, it's sure that through this sharing, it also pushes me to discover things that I didn't necessarily take the time to see thoroughly !

Have a beautiful day, I hope you are well 🍀

Yes, it's good to get away from the routing obsession for a while ^^

For this one and others, I would love to get a better camera..! What would you recommend within a reasonable budget ?

Thanks for your visit, I wish you a nice day :D

I'm glad you enjoyed it, as well as the pictures and the quality I tend to reach... despite I just shoot with my phone... Wish I had a better camera haha :-)

Yes indeed, but how could I believe that it was the first time I had been there ?
Thanks you for your time and reading, take care 🍀 ✌️

Yes, I should have done a more complete tour of it, but I had to choose between diversity and focus haha !

Paris is so beautiful, and where you least expect it, there is always a little wonder. Très belle!
Thank you for mentioning me. I wish all cities were full of these little wooden mini-libraries.
By the way, a book about doors in Paris would be interesting ;)
Have a great day 😊

Hello @coquicoin ! Thanks for your message and sorry for my late reply :)

Yes, as soon as we open our eyes, we always come across little wonders, I too dream that there are these little houses of books at every street corner ! I'm thinking of writing a story, probably a short story about a book box... To be continued :D As for the book of the doors, hehe !

I hope you are well, I wish you a sweet Sunday ✌️
