Gotic architecture Basilica of the christ of the grace in Venezuela.
Hello Dear friends of Architecture+Design, Welcome to my Blog.
Receive a cordial greeting.
In the heart of the city of Barquisimeto, in the center west of Venezuela, is hidden among stores and the mob of informal traders, one of the most relevant and beautiful gothic style buildings in the city.
Cover of my authorship made with canva.
I remember that when I was a child of 6 or 7 years old I always saw in the distance that "great tower of a castle" because in my innocence as a child I believed that that great pinnacle adorned with bell towers and beautiful stained glass windows that rose more than 40 meters high was a Disney castle.
Such was my fascination for that construction that one day while I was walking with my grandmother I told her that I wanted to go to that place, she smiled and took me there, when I arrived she told me that it was a Catholic church fading my belief that it was a castle.
However, as I grew up I continued to admire this construction, because it is part of the few gothic style constructions in the city and that is precisely why I come to show you the basilica of the Christ of Grace.
Basilica of The Christ of grace.
This Catholic church is located in the heart of downtown, specifically on Carrera 23 between 31st and 32nd Streets. Its construction began in 1934 and was completed in 1955, location Pinmapple [//]:# (!pinmapple 10.06972 lat -69.32297 long d3scr)
The building is located in a commercial area where it is mixed with informal economy and large stores, which make this beautiful building go unnoticed among the perimeters of the area; however, if you look up you can see in the distance its great pinnacle which rises more than 40 meters high which leaves the imagination the beautiful construction which is hidden among the surrounding buildings.
The gothic architecture of the church consists of a beautiful entrance with granite floor, large mahogany doors carved with the representation of Jesus' Way of the Cross (a work of art) these doors give entrance to its visitors.
Upon entering you can see a kind of glass sarcophagus inside which is a sculpture of Jesus. A few meters further inside we can see the granite floor that runs throughout the building, its benches are made of mahogany wood.
Upstairs we can see beautiful stained glass windows of some religious representations such as Jesus, St. Joseph, Mary and some apostles which bring more beauty to the church, its large pillars are made of concrete decorated with granite on their skirts.
The church consists of 2 naves and a bell tower, on its sides there are 2 entrances and has 2 naves, its altarpiece is also built in the Gothic style, its altar is made of sculpted marble and a bronze tabernacle which show all its magnificence.
This church was originally just another Catholic church in the city, but in 1994 it was declared a minor Basilica by Pope John Paul II, after a written request was made by the Monsignor to the Holy See in the Vatican.
Dear friends, so I have come to the end of this post very happy to have brought you part of the architecture of my city, as well as to reveal any interesting facts about it.

what a very nice church.
Hello friend if that church is very beautiful, has a somewhat mysterious touch that sows curiosity in anyone who manages to pass nearby. Thank you very much for your comment.
I really loved the pics, they're stunning.✨
I really like this gothic style to a church, and I wouldn't thought as a kid it was a Disney castle, is more like a vampire's castle for me and my wild imagination. However, I enjoyed your post so much and I want to see more of this kind of photos, thank you for sharing!💜
Hello dear friend, thank you for reading. Hahaha the truth is that I associated the castle with the one with the disney logo. What innocence, but now if I wake up a little more curiosity for the gloomy.
The truth is that I love this type of architecture I find it very imposing, mysterious and elegant. Thanks for your excellent comment bro.

Qué belleza de estructura, para ser basílica menor, no es muy conocida, ni siquiera sabía que existía un templo con esa estructura aquí en Venezuela, parece otro país, como España o Argentina, me gustó haber conocido esta. Saludos.
An interesting brick and the tower. What is the tower made of? Is it painted?
