DIY I Just Crocheted a Happy New Month Slipper Gift to a Mother

It has really been good for me and my family to see a new month called August because it’s only by God's grace both in health and business that we’re able to make it. Before I’ll proceed with today’s writing, I’ll gladly like to welcome and wish every member of this community a happy new month of August 2022. I also want to use this opportunity to salute the community and the admin and moderators @crosheille and others for the love shown to me last week as I completed my one-year stay with Hive. Through this community, I strongly believe that I have another family and I’m indeed grateful for being celebrated. God shall reward you all.

Today being Monday, I was wondering whom to celebrate with through my crocheted skill gift but I just remembered that I had a woman whom I used to call mother when I was still a student. The woman is not actually my biological mother but she is indeed a mother especially when I was still a student.

The day I choose to call her mother was the day I was threatened about my school fees back then in school because I didn’t have the money to pay. This is really touching but I just have to express it here. Then in school, my final year exam and the projects were just two days left and the school authority passed an order that every student whether a final year or not must pay his/her school fees before being allowed to write the school exam. I lost all hope because I was really the one sponsoring myself and I had no money to pay the fee not to talk about the one for my final year project.

I came back to the house confused and frustrated after the school authority ordered the school fees because they were no other hope left for me except to look up to God. In the morning remaining one day before my final year exam, I didn’t go to school that day because they were no need for me to do just that. I came outside the hostel where I used to leave for me fetch water and I saw the woman whom I’m now referring to as a mother coming to fetch water too. She asked me why are my not in school that day and I explained to her everything.

The woman left and came back to my hostel in the morning the day being the final day the school authority gave for the school fee to be paid. She gave me the school fee and told me that I should go and write my exams without fear. I was left with nothing to say at the moment but where I was confused was that the woman was only selling food to me even when I had no money to pay her. This was how she turned to be a mother to me because of the love, care, and shelter she gave to me then as a student.

Today, I decided to crochet a yarn-made slipper for her as a gift in the month of August because she loves wearing every gift coming from me. Through this yarn-crocheted slipper made by me, I’ll also have the opportunity to see her again because it has been a long time since we saw each other.

Material and tools used in crocheting the slipper:

A yellow-colored yarn.

Browed-designed leather.

A black sole was used.

Yarn pin and needle.

Scissors.

Sandpaper.

Gum and hammer were also used.

Procedures used in crocheting the slipper:

I tried my best to understand the type of design the woman will love.

I have to understand the color that will match what I want to crochet.

I make sure that every material to be used is acquired.

I took measurements of the slipper to be crocheted.

I cut the leather being measured to the size of the sole to be used.

I have to start my crocheting with focus.

I have to sandpaper the leather which I crocheted and the sole for cracks.

I have to apply some gum to the surfaces of the sole and leather.

I have to place the work under the sun and after drying, I just fixed the whole work.
