How to Write a Complete Research Project

First, I will be talking about research in common sense. Research is simply the ability to identify potential problems and to proffer solutions and suggestions to that same requisite problem being ascertained because before anyone can start embarking on research, something must have prompted that. This is to stipulate that one can completely embark on research in the search for solutions to business, profession, health, and other environmental factor ingredients associated with those same problematic factors.

When I was still an undergraduate, during my final year; I carried out a research project titled (Cataloguing and Classification as a predictor to Academic Performance of Students in Library and Information Science a Case Study of the University of Nigeria Nsuka). The essence of my research was to identify the problem associated with why Library Science students were having massive failures in cataloging and classification which are the key courses in the Library Science profession.

When I finished with my data collection, data analysis, findings, discussion of findings, conclusions, and suggestions; I discovered that what causes mass failures of library students in cataloging and classification courses was as a result of inadequate conducive practical environment, phobia among students on the use of Library of Congress (LCS) and Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme (DDC), un-proportional practical time management, Noise pollution during cataloging and classification practical classes by students, Inadequate professional practical lecturer in cataloging and classification, and many others were all the problems identified through the data ascertained.

My suggestions concerning the project were: There should be an adequate practical environment to support the practical training of students in cataloging and classification, the practical time factor should be cautiously managed, and students should get conversant with the use of the Library of Congress (LCS) and Dewey Decimal Classification Schemes from their first to final year, and many other suggestions which gave me an upper hand in my research work.

After the research work back then in school days, I was interviewed by an internal and external supervisor to defend the project which I did and I later came out with flying colors as one of the best research students of that particular academic year. from time to time, a lot of professionals and students find it difficult to defend the project they worked on which may be a result of a phobia to face the public, or either they were not the ones who carried out the research work. Good research projects are best carried out and tested by the researcher to give him/her an accurate result.

Things that will make your research project work complete are:

High-quality data collection: for you to ascertain excellent data collection in your research, you must be able to draft general and acceptable research questions that must be credited to your research objective of the study. You can decide to use a survey method which is one of the simplest tools used in research data collection.

High-quality data analysis: For your research to be complete, you must use a general and acceptable tool for data analysis to avoid any wrong results. You can use Four Point Likert Scale (Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree) to give you an excellent result.

Excellent data presentation: For you to present your data, you must adhere to all research rules according to the type of research you embarked on.

Report of your findings: Here, you need to pen down carefully your findings after data collection and analysis must have taken place. Your findings will speak to the audience, readers, and researchers whether you carried out a proper research project or not. Though according to research, no research work is complete because it’s continuous work.

Your conclusions and suggestions: Here your conclusions and suggestions must be well structured to assist future research-related studies.
