An Igbo man yet to be identified by name has been stabbed to death in the New Benin of Edo State by an Aboki man who has been confirmed as a Fulani man both in Nigeria. The incident just happened hours ago at the First Bank area of Benin market but according to information, the Aboki man stabbed the Igbo man right in front of his small managing shop for no reason.

Igbo is part of Southern Nigeria known as the South-East. Igbo is a speaking tribe in Nigeria that believes so much in business and is also mostly Christian. The Igbos are said to be agitating for Biafra so as to separate from Nigeria for years which led to a civil war between 1967-1970 while the Fulani are part of Northern Nigeria. The Fulanis are said to be a Muslim state by population and are so much interested in business.

It has been gathered from Twitter that the Igbo man told the Aboki man to live his shop out of an argument yet to be revealed but the Aboki (Hausa-Fulani) refused to live the shop and out of anger at the Aboki man, he took his dagger and stabbed the Igbo man which has led to the Igbo man’s death after he was rushed to the hospital.

In retaliation by other angry Igbo men around the area where the incident happened, they rushed the Aboki man and beat him up. According to Twitter, the Aboki man nearly got burned by the angry Igbo youth but was later rescued by the police.

Filing this report, it has been confirmed from Twitter and from a phone call I received from a brother from Benin that the angry Igbo youths are beating up any Aboki people they meet around the area of the market which has made the New Benin market a riot zone for now.

People across the country in Nigeria especially the Igbo through social media have condemned such dangerous acts by the Aboki man while few are angry with the police for not allowing the Aboki man to be burned by the angry market Igbo youths. Some people have also been commenting why the Aboki’s all over the country Nigeria will be allowed to be moving freely everywhere in Nigeria with a dagger and sometimes gun and warned that the Nigerian government should ban them from such movements with weapons.

The Igbo and the Hausa-Fulani have never been on good terms after the civil war which has been leading to so much chaos in religion, tribe, and many more within the country. The Igbo has also accused the Nigerian government and the Northerners of not allowing them to produce the president of the country for years now which is also among what is bringing hatred between the Hausas and Igbo.
