This weekend I went for a walk in the mountains, I was able to enjoy the fresh air and could not miss the encounter with wild species. In this case, I found a green bug of the Family Pentatomidae in the branches of a tree, I think I was lucky because its pale green color and the yellow border on the sides was the perfect camouflage with the leaves of that tree. Its body is wide and convex, the head is triangular and pointed, with prognathous and sucking mouthparts.

This type of hemiptera is distributed in almost all the countries of the American continent, from Mexico to Argentina, it measures about 15 mm in length and feeds on the sap of plants, even attacking legume crops. It uses its mouthparts to inject a liquid that reacts with the plant part and then sucks or sucks its juices. They differ from beetles, because their wings are semi-hardened, not as much as the elytra of a beetle, but rather they have hemielytra with a hard section and another membranous.

This flying insect is from the Suborder Heteroptera and is known as Green Stink Bug, particularly because it is green with some shades, when it feels threatened it tends to release a foul-smelling liquid to scare away its natural predators, which is why it is nicknamed "stinky". It has a pair of dark-colored filiform antennae near the head and at the end tends to be of a combined color between red-yellow and as if that were not enough, it has 5 flexible segments that are associated with a morphological characteristic of this Family Pentatomidae.

This animal has feeding habits completely from the plant kingdom, so its mouthparts are of the type sucking, sucking or biting the vegetable bark and take advantage of the accumulation of sap that the host plant possesses. It also has its 3 pairs of legs that help it to move through the branches and its nails allow it to have a strong grip on the branches and leaves of the bush.

Its scientific name is Nezara viridula, of the Genus Nezara, it is Originally from the Paleoarctic ecozone where it has its natural habitat, but as I mentioned before, it has been distributed throughout America, being considered a pest in some countries. In recent studies, the genetic sequence has been analyzed and it was found that part of its active genes is closely related to the Triatoma infestans, spread in the fields of crops in Venezuela and better known by the common name of Chipo.
