The activity of digging wells is rarely found in big cities, but in villages, people still rely on manually dug wells for household needs. Well water is used for bathing, washing clothes and other necessities.

In general, in Aceh, wells are divided into two, drilled wells and dug wells. In this post I photograph workers digging a well in Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

There are three workers digging this well. This dug well is made by digging the soil to a certain depth to find a suitable water source. Usually the whole series of dug wells is still done manually.

The process of digging this well takes place from morning to evening. A total of eight ring wells were used in this excavation, the aim being that the soil on the outskirts did not fall and mix with the water.

It is possible that, in different places, different processes are used to dig wells and obtain water. What do you think about this?
