Hello friends of this wonderful community, today I would like to share with you a trip I made to the city of Cienfuegos, I spent several days walking and visiting the most emblematic and significant places, although I am sure we always missed something. Today I am only going to talk about the city center and its main buildings, I clarify that not all of them, since it is really extensive and with a very varied architecture.

In its beginnings its architecture was neoclassical, dazzling the eyes of anyone who visited it, although it was later transformed into more eclectic forms, without losing the harmony of its urban landscape. The sea has been the fundamental protagonist of its richness and physical uniqueness with which its main urban and environmental values are linked. This connection between the marine environment and the city makes Cienfuegos, especially its historic center, an exceptional heritage asset. The city in general has a magnificent maritime environment, which together with the tranquility transmitted by its wide streets make it a national and international tourist destination.

The special structure of its historic center has been preserved over the years, highlighting each of its squares and promenades, wide streets and the facade line of classic style without portals. Because of the time we did not have the opportunity to visit all the important sites of the city or detail each building as I would have liked, but among the main places we visited are the Government Palace, the Colegio San Lorenzo, the Bishopric, and I can not fail to mention the famous Paseo del Prado.

Among its emblematic buildings stands out the Cienfuegos Government Palace, located near the Martí Park, considered a colonial neoclassical building where the symmetry of the lines that compose it stands out, being this one of the most significant buildings of the city. The dome that crowns it has been considered as its most peculiar element, which stands out for the pastel colors of the facade and the yellow of the windows. The flat color highlights the cornices, friezes and different reliefs that adorn it in order to give it an even more monumental air. At present this building has become the headquarters of the Provincial Assembly and a symbol for the people of Cienfuegos. Although access to the interior is not allowed, it is worth admiring its exterior and every element that makes it up.

From the El Inglés River to Punta Gorda we were able to visit the Paseo del Prado, which is considered the longest street of its kind in the whole country, a perfect place to stroll and admire how the daily life of the people of Cienfuegos goes by. Attractive neoclassical buildings and pastel-colored columns surround the entire promenade. The Benny Moré Statue, located at the intersection with 54th Avenue, is one of the most dazzling elements of this street. This life-size sculpture pays homage to the famous musician Benny Moré. The street to the south becomes the Malecón, offering views of one of the most beautiful natural bays in the world.

What a beautifully maintained city that looks like it is inside a dome.

Hi @arqyanedesings, the city Cienfuegos is very beautiful, it has great attractions that it is difficult to choose a favorite, the view of the Malecon I liked and the sculpture in real size, is amazing, if I see it at night I would never imagine that it is a sculpture.

Happy weekend!

Greetings @arqyanedesings, I find that the street lamp's shapes and lion sculptures in the area you visted are very similar to the street lamps and lion sculptures found on the streets of Sri Lanka.
