Hola mis queridos amigos como ya les mencioné el mar es uno de los atractivos naturales más brillantes que tiene la ciudad de Cienfuegos, su elegancia y magnetismo deslumbran a todo aquel que tenga la posibilidad de visitarla que podrá apreciar que este fuerte vínculo con el mar la hacen una ciudad mágica y majestuosa.

Hello my dear friends, as I already mentioned, the sea is one of the most brilliant natural attractions of the city of Cienfuegos, its elegance and magnetism dazzle anyone who has the chance to visit it and appreciate that this strong link with the sea makes it a magical and majestic city.

Uno de los mejores puertos naturales que presenta la isla de Cuba es la bahía de Cienfuegos o Jagua, como también se le conoce, debido a esto en la fundación de la ciudad el puerto tuvo cierta relevancia y actualmente existen unos astilleros. Esta zona presenta un elemento peculiar y curioso que es el coral de columna conocido como Notre Dame, esto se debe a su parecido a la catedral gótica y su altura lo convierte en uno de los puntos más notables de todo el Caribe.

One of the best natural harbors on the island of Cuba is the bay of Cienfuegos or Jagua, as it is also known, because of this in the founding of the city the port had some relevance and currently there are some shipyards. This area presents a peculiar and curious element which is the column coral known as Notre Dame, this is due to its resemblance to the Gothic cathedral and its height makes it one of the most remarkable points of the entire Caribbean.

Podemos encontrar dentro de la bahía diversas playas rocosas y arenosas donde pasar el día, por el tema del tiempo no pudimos visitarlas y recorrerlas como nos hubiese gustado, todo rodeado de una verde vegetación entre la que sobresale el mangle rojo. Se destacan además especies marinas como peces, moluscos y crustáceos, principalmente el camarón blanco, de gran valor para el comercio interno y exportable. También podemos observar distintas aves autóctonas como las garzas blancas, los alcatraces, gaviotas y distintas variedades de patos.

We can find within the bay several rocky and sandy beaches where to spend the day, because of the weather we could not visit and tour them as we would have liked, all surrounded by green vegetation among which stands out the red mangrove. There are also marine species such as fish, mollusks and crustaceans, mainly white shrimp, of great value for domestic and exportable trade. We can also observe different native birds such as white herons, gannets, gulls and different varieties of ducks.

Una de las mejores experiencias que tuve fue el viaje en Patana, como se le conoce a un pequeño barquito encargado de transportar a las personas de un lado a otro, pues nos quedamos en el campismo que quedaba cerca del Castillo de Jagua (del cual les hablaré más en mis próximos post) y para recorrer la ciudad de Cienfuegos debíamos tomar aquel bote para atravesar la bahía.

One of the best experiences I had was the trip in Patana, as it is known to a small boat responsible for transporting people from one side to another, because we stayed in the campground that was near the Castillo de Jagua (which I will tell you more in my next post) and to tour the city of Cienfuegos we had to take that boat to cross the bay.

Fue un viaje precioso apreciamos cada detalle y todo lo plasmamos en fotografías. Pudimos observar desde un pequeño velero hasta un enorme buque y la sensación de estar en medio del mar y navegar es indescriptible.

It was a beautiful trip we appreciated every detail and we captured it all in photographs. We could see from a small sailboat to a huge ship and the feeling of being in the middle of the sea and sailing is indescribable.

El Malecón es otro atractivo turístico que no se puede dejar de visitar, comienza en el Paseo del Prado y termina en el área de Punta Gorda. Es imposible no apreciar las espigadas palmeras, los edificios coloridos, el aire fresco que te despeina junto con el olor a mar y el sonido de las olas hacen que pases un momento maravilloso que recordarás el resto de tu vida. Por las noches principalmente es un punto de reunión social donde los jóvenes salen con guitarras a pasar la noche ahí y compartir entre amigos, lo que hace que puedas disfrutar todos los días de un ambiente puramente Cubano. Los carnavales cienfuegueros, competencias de velas y regatas, así como exhibiciones acuáticas y náuticas forman parte de las diferentes actividades culturales que se llevan a cabo en el lugar. Para mí sin duda alguna fue una viaje que jamás sacaré de mi cabeza.

The Malecon is another must-see tourist attraction, starting at the Paseo del Prado and ending at the Punta Gorda area. It is impossible not to appreciate the lanky palm trees, the colorful buildings, the fresh air that ruffles your hair along with the smell of the sea and the sound of the waves make you spend a wonderful time that you will remember for the rest of your life. At night it is mainly a social gathering point where young people go out with guitars to spend the night there and share with friends, which makes you can enjoy every day of a purely Cuban atmosphere. The Cienfuegos carnivals, sailing competitions and regattas, as well as aquatic and nautical exhibitions are part of the different cultural activities that take place there. For me it was a trip that I will never get out of my head.
