Throughout this journey, I’ll walk you through my experience step by step from setting up this version to managing assets on both the Hive and Ethereum (EVM) networks.
- The Start of the Journey: Preparation, Setup, and First Impressions
Before proceeding with the installation and use of the new Hive Keychain Beta app, it’s essential to take a very important preliminary step to secure your existing accounts. To start this adventure off on the right foot, the first thing I did was go to the traditional Keychain extension that I already have installed and enabled in my browser.
From there, I tapped the top three lines and opened the Menu
Then look for the “Account” section
Once there, select “Export”
and there I select “Export my account to an encrypted file.”
What you see in the image is a downloadable file that the wallet sent me when I requested to export the file, which I will use later to migrate my account immediately and securely to the new version.
Once I had my encrypted file safely stored on my computer, I opened the link in the Chrome Web Store to download Hive Keychain Beta. It downloaded without any problems, and then I installed it in the browser just as I had with my old account.
