All right! The photos I took need to get off my phone for they take up lots of space in my phone's memory and the contest is ending soon so I gotta get this published asap. And by the way, the above photo used as cover image is not mine - - thanks to Canva, I got this beautiful cover photo. :D The following photos, however are all mine.

This post is my entry to the Ladies of Hive Community Contest #102 There are two questions presented and yey, no surprise for guessing, I chose to write about:

2️⃣ Coffee? Tea? Both are renowned around the world! Which is your favorite to drink daily, and how do you take it? Recipes, please, and if you are not a fan of either, what is your favorite daily drink?

Ever Heard of Karak Tea?

It's a drink that's very commonly consumed here in the UAE-- almost all tea shops would offer this.

👆 🤏

Just present these two simple hand gestures at a tea shop, even while just waiting inside your car and within a few minutes you will get a cup of hot Karak tea!

This South Asian drink is a blend of loose black tea leaves brewed with spices (e.g. cardamom), and evaporated milk. I'd like to place it as Taiwan's "bubble milk tea's" hot counterpart sans the tapioca pearls and other flavorings.

A Break You Also Deserve - Tea Break 😉

Black Tea with Cardamom & Evaporated Milk!

Though I am really a coffee person -- legit, my morning is not complete without my black coffee, I have recently been drinking my own version of Karak every afternoon.

There is tea labeled as "karak tea" sold in supermarkets and I have honestly not yet tried them. I would assume that's already with milk, though I am not sure how. LOL.

Instead, I tried to buy this black tea with cardamom and then got separate evaporated milk to add only after steeping it in hot water.

I found that the cardamom flavor of the tea isn't as strong as I got used to with the Karak from tea shops, so I tried to add more cardamom with each preparation.

Since I am the only one who drinks this at home, evaporated milk in 14mL foil packs is perfect to make sure nothing is wasted.

My afternoon tea.

Here's my afternoon tea. Hot black tea with cardamom and milk and brown sugar just for that mild sweetness.

Coffee or Tea?

I will still not exchange coffee for tea. Coffee is still number 1 for me! ❤️

I haven’t heard of it! This is the first time. Ordering it with hand gestures is so awesome! Everyone understood what it meant and that’s really so interesting! Wish I could also order something like that with hand gestures. 😅
And of course, I want to try this tea too!

I have ignored this tea for a verrrry long time. Even before bobba milk tea were a thing, my friends had been enjoying karak.

It was also one of my friends who taught me the gesture, which she learned from her Indian boss. 😁 There's another gesture she showed me recently-- how to order water. 👍 Basically just move your thumb towards your mouth. Lol.

Now that’s an interesting and cool hand gesture 😄
Your choice of tea is great, I too love me some black tea with some milk. I don’t like sugar in my tea but I think I might try brown sugar some day.
Nice entry.

Good luck and have a lovely weekend.

First time hearing (reading) about Karak Tea but it sounds something I would not say no to, lol! And your way of having tea is also interesting. I have not tried adding milk on any tea so I wonder how it taste like hehe. Must be delish!

Hahaha. Yeah, Karak is something I tried to distance my lself from for a long time. When I finally got introduced to it, it was actually nice, I kinda regretted I didn't try it soon. For black or red tea, I love to have it with milk and some sugar. Or ice cold black tea with brown sugar and lemon. Others like green tea or chamomile or other infusions, then just plain. 😜

Glad you finally tried it and since it is nice, I imagine you're having it more often now hehe. I tend to not take tea as often as I'd like. It makes me feel hungry all the time, lol!

hahaha. Yah, tea tastes so... leafy! :D

I used to not like tea as well, but I started liking it when I make lemon tea. Coffee is still the best for me. <3
