Not My Yarn! The Crocheting Journey So Far

Yarn Haven

Yay! If you were here yesterday, I briefly mentioned that Little Miss and I discovered a yarn haven (or heaven) somewhere in our city. There were lots of yarn in different kinds of materials and colors, it was so hard to choose.

Little Miss asked if I could buy her a ball of yarn because she also wanted to learn what I was doing. So we went to this shop which I learned, thanks to Mr. G.

Anyway, I was thinking of trying a new "project", so while I was trying to make Little Miss happy by getting her the yarn of her choice, I also was silently hoping it would be nice for what I wanted to do.

She was focused on tri-colored yarns, and finally chose this blue shaded yarn.

Hmmm, this should be good for what I had in mind.

The Project

It's not like I was a crochet expert already. I'm a complete dummy in this craft. Remember the granny rounds?! Lol.

But then, if I were to get accustomed to this, I have to push myself further each time.

This is the first "functional" crochet project I've done so far. Well, it was originally intended to be a cellphone pouch but it turned out very small so I used it to be for my now worn out card holder.

I think I have been using this card holder for 4 years or so. Apart from my phone, this is the only thing that I carry with me whenever I go out. I seldom carry cash, but when I need to, this crocheted mini pouch can hold a few notes too.

Moving on to the "new project", I am now trying to make a bigger pouch (bag) to fit the phone, card holder and car keys.

So far, so good! The color blend is looking A-OK. I am looking forward to finish this soon so I can share my whole experience with you guys.

Not My Yarn

Going back to the yarn. Little Miss found me working with this new ball of yarn earlier.

"That's my yarn! Why are you using my yarn?!"

Oh, coconuts! What have I done?!

I told her about my project and she was like, "but that's the color that I chose!". She eventually just let it pass and so I continued working.

I was already working on the 3rd row of my crochet when I had to go fetch @kennyroy from his office. So I set aside my "precious" project.

To my horror, when I was ready to start working on it again this evening, the stitches were undone and only the first row was left.

"Why?!" 😭

The kids said it was "an accident", so no use to get angry. Besides, it was partly my fault for leaving it at our bedside. So I just worked myself up again. I am almost at my desired height. At this rate, I might just have a new bag really soon.

I will surely share the output with all of you (not that you'd really want to see it! 😂)

Until then!

❤️Arlyn

Lol she didn’t want you using her precious yarn that she picked out. That is so funny. Not funny you had to start over but I’m sure it didn’t take too long to get back to where you were.

It’s good you keep practicing and starting new projects. That’s how you learn and perfect your craft. Thanks for sharing your process with us :)

Haha! Really possessive. 😂 Yup, she is so interested in crochet but I told her I need to learn more so that I can teach her correctly.

I like the tri-colored blue yarn but that was pretty scary when she asked why were you using her yarn. Oh gosh. I would have froze! Sorry you had to start all over again but it is okay, the more you work, the better you get :) Yes, I would love to see the final result :)

Oh, she's a very vocal kid, sometimes I have to give her the "stare". haha. All good though, coz she eventually conceded (with a condition that I will buy her another one).

Lovely yarn! With these multicolored yarns, it's always a surprise how the colors come out in a project :)

I'm looking forward to see another yarn shop that I found on Google. I'm just painting in my mind how to get there and how the parking will be. 😅 I want to be able to compare the prices too. My girl surely enjoyed the little trip.😍
