The Controversial Chat Bot Is Here

There's no denying, Chat GPT has arrived and is changing the landscape in all areas. Many even fear it would kick them out of their jobs.

I do not want to go on telling what Chat GPT is because unless you've been living under a rock, then you must have heard about this new tool.

While it is practically a banned tool here on Hive, I have, started using it in our little homeschool (very minimally). Once, I tried to create a lesson plan for Microsoft Excel for my eldest.

The kids are bound to learn about it in one way or another, so I decided to intervene.

My eldest loves to watch Doctor Mike on youtube and it is where he discovered about ChatGPT. He said, "Hmmmm, maybe I can use Chat GPT too!".

"No!" was my straight-up answer. If you learn how to use it as a tool to aid your learning, then yes. But if you plan on letting it do the job for you, then no-no-no-no!

Whales, Dolphins, and Chat GPT

Today, we were discussing about animals and how they are similar and different from each other. Vertebrates, invertebrates, cold-blooded, warm-blooded, inseects, mammals, etc.

The discussion was lively and interactive with my eldest also included since he is very knowledgeable about animals.

Then the conversation led to some special mammals. Why? Because they live in the sea! Whales and dolphins!

Mammals are animals that are born as babies and are fed milk by they momma through her mammary glands.

"But if whales feed their babies milk, how come the milk don't spill on the water?" Little Man asked.

LOL yeah, why did I not even think about that? That is a valid question but how do I even explain something I do not know how to explain?! Then I remembered something that can do the job for me excellently - Chat GPT.

We asked Chat GPT how whales feed their youngs and here's what it said:

"This is better than Google," he even commented. To which I agree, because google is a search engine that will give us links to websites that will give us answers to our questions. Chat GPT gives answers in a conversational manner that is easy to understand.

Impressed with the way the AI presented the answers, the Little Man started to type in more questions.

Learned something new? Let's keep asking.

"What happens if the mommy doesn't keep the baby warm?"

Ohhh... so that's what happens. :D

Anyway, we also talked about dolphins being mammals too. Wait. Let's confirm:

Female dolphins have two mammary glands, located in the genital area...

Which led to another question:

It was a nice and informative conversation with ChatGPT. We could have went on, but it was almost lunch time and the AI-assisted teacher mommy had to cook so we could prepare to head out for the library.

Will we keep using Chat GPT in our homeschool?

To gather resources, augment our learning, and aid in discussion-
yes, that's for sure. To tolerate cheating and laziness, definitely not.

How about you? What are your thoughts on this?

This is useful as an additional resource to the child's learning.

Yes, definitely. But we need to teach them how to use it responsibly.

I love AI XD Brave AI's summariser does a similar thing which makes it really easy when I just need to find out what a thing is quickly and don't aprticularly want to be trawling through all the links.

Wouldn't use it to write stuff or generate art though, and in the case of here I won't upvote too much that does (in the case of the former I won't do it knowingly, in the latter it depends on the person and the process).

It's only now that you mentioned that I took notice of it! Yeah, it's really convenient when we don't have that much time to go click on the link seach results.

I don't like AI, tita. Me as an artist, it is unfair lol

Oh true... AI-generated arts are unfair to creatives like you. Still, originality is best. Keep going, girl!

When I read "whales and dolphins" I thought you were going to talk about Hive whales and dolphins. 😆
An innovative way to incorporate AI into learning.

Hahaha. It occurred to me only after I published the post. It was a very "innocent" topic but the other version is very controversial on-chain.
