We Were Almost Thrown Out : "Fun" Dining at New Shanghai

I can't believe it's been a month since we last saw each other and that I haven't had the chance to share about the super tasty and sumptous lunch we had at New Shanghai in Dubai Mall. It was such a great meal and yep, I am definitely craving for it now.

Apart from the great food, it is really the company that I am missing now. I can definitely say that the almost 2 hours drive from Abu Dhabi to Dubai was worth it -- for the food and the extreme quality time with the gang.

Selection.

There was a wide variety of selection from the menu but we stuck with the main course straight up. Besides, we will be using Entertainment Vouchers (Buy 1 Take 1 Free). There were 6 of us, so we used 3 vouchers.

Almost every time we dine at a Chinese restaurant, one friend likes to order friend duck. So, Fragrant Crispy Duck, it is! It's combination with steamed pancakes and hoisin sauce, plus the freshness and crunch from the sliced veggies was a winner!

Bonus! Ms. Fried Duck Lover would even wrap 'em duck meat and the jazz for you. Sweet, eh?! 😂

Did you say seafood allergy?

Yep, Ms. Fried Duck Lover has seafood allergy, but we also always eat at seafood restaurants with her.

This time, we ordered not only one but two sets of seafood meals. Just shows how much we love her. LOL.

Sweet and Sour Prawns. Wok-fried shrimps, pineapple, red and green pepper, in sweet and sour sauce.

Oh, there was a point that she was willing to try the shrimps. But nah. Let's not risk that.

The steamed garlic prawns are good, though I found the glass noodles a bit salty for my taste.

Colorful Beef!

I have to say that New Shanghai's crispy beef strips are the best I have tried so far, compared to other Chinese restaurants. The beef strips are crispy, tender, and tasty. Yep, beef strips-- unlike those from another restaurant that I tried, it was more like crispy beef flavored starch.

But I wonder why they call this Rainbow Beef. They're not colorful at all. Appetizing and delectable, yes, but not exactly colorful. haha. (Apart from the spring onion garnish!)

From crispy to tender, let's talk about their Mongolian beef.

For some reason, I always think "crispy" when I think about Mongolian Beef. But I know after this, I will always remember who tender the beef was and how the savory sauce just makes you want to call out, "Extra rice, please!"

This one's got to be worth it.

Remember when I said above that to get the most value for your money (Buy 1, Take 1), try to get items with close price close to the other?!

Of all of our orders, this Kung Pao Chicken is a lot cheaper than the rest of our meals. Although I have to say that it was definitely not a bad idea to add this. It was worth it!

We were almost thrown out.

Well, we headed out before they did. LOL. We were laughing so hard while chatting while we were waiting for your friend who came a lot later than us. As in, we were already done eating and she was still walking from the Metro to the Dubai Mall. That was not a short walk, especially if you have "shorter" legs like our cute friend.

"I think I logged 20k steps coming here!" she said. Awww

Okay, now that you're here, let's get coffee at the DFC!

"What? another 20k steps?! But I just came. 😭" she almost cried.

Of course, we were just joking. LOL. We waited while she caught her breath and finish eating before we headed out for more walking!
