Wow, I never thought we could have our work tools blessed. Actually I was not aware at all about this until yesterday. Lent 2023 happened including my spiritual renewal and then voila! I heard the announcement about this on Sunday so I went to mass today!

Coincidentally it is also a long weekend because today is Labor Day! Lucky are those who are on vacation. Despite not going on a getaway I still feel blessed to have experienced something new. ❤️

I've never been much about being a worker. To me that's just how we live. Work to live, that was it, what else should one fuss about? But now it's a bit different.

This occasion has finally become significant. Why not when it's the celebration of St. Joseph as patron saint of workers + it's also a nationwide holiday. It's the best opposite of double whammy! 😆

It is my first time to have my work tools blessed, ever! I kinda didn't know what to do because I didn't know what to expect. 😂

What Kind of Mass Happened?

Well it was the same as any kind of eucharistic celebration. It was just a little bit different.

I was only able to go to the 6 pm mass. Good thing they had it at that time otherwise I wouldn't have been able to go.

Also, I thought (and hoped) there won't be much people just because I didn't wanna get crowded or something. I had this inkling that there might be too many people because it's after office hours. So I went there early enough, 5:30 pm and guess what, indeed only a few people were there.

I then thought it was wrong of me to hope there won't be many people there. Yes it's the last mass of the day but it made me sad to think not a lot of people will be able to partake of such an important blessing.

But of course eventually by 6 pm there were already enough people. Hurray! I was glad to see a significant number of churchgoers. Haha.

So How Did The Work Tools Get Blessed?

It was quite easy. Not much fanfare happened at all. Right before the mass ended there was a blessing or something about being part of the St. Joseph club. (Sorry didn't take any pics.)

Okay okay that's not what it's called but I didn't pay attention. 😂 Suffice it to say that new members of the patron saint followers(?) were called to the front of the pews.

They were all welcomed, blessed and given a sort of big scapular or something. The priest hung it around the neck of each person. Huhu so sorry I didn't check more abt it.

Next up, the priest announced that those who are workers and would like to have work tools blessed should go in front of the altar. Oh ho ho so finally the moment has come.

I felt a bit anxious because all I knew was there would probably be a blessing using holy water too. However I was thinking, what, should I bring all of my tools out and hold them up? Omg. I got kinda shy so I just brought my entire bag in front.

And then while the priest was still praying I was thinking, ¨Should I bring them out now??? Hahaha. My gosh to be such a newbie to this. 😆

Eventually I just decided to bring out my laptop and smartphone. Nevermind if I brought my cutting pad, cutters and metal ruler which I use to make temporary tattoos. Oh I even brought my pens too! Ugh I got shy and it felt awkward to bring it all out. Huhu.

And so when the priest came down and started blessing our tools, only my laptop got the most holy water showered on it. 😅 Perhaps even the inside of my bag got sprinkled but I of course am not sure. Most likely yes because it was open and my tools were above it.

In any case perhaps I can go again next year. 😅 So much for being a first timer. Haha. I dunno but I should have been braver but being new to this I just felt I should just put up the most important one.

I dunno if my phone also got sprinkled on, I didn't notice. But my eyeglasses got hit so there's that. Made me think I should have brought my work glasses instead! 😂 Ah such a noob.

Anyway after that the priest said the final prayers/blessings and that was it! NOW I HAVE A BLESSED LAPTOP! 😆 🙌 AAAAH! 😃😍 Isn't that amazing?! ❤️
