Naisip mo na bang magkawanggawa kahit di ka mabayaran? Kailan ka huling tumulong sa kapwa mo na wala kang hininging kapalit? Ano nga ba ang silbi ng pagbo-volunteer?

Ganito ako noon

Alam nyo ba, never ako nagboluntaryo magtrabaho sa kahit saan before. Bakit di ba? Di ko naiisip yang mga ganyang bagay noon. Buhay ko nga di ko maayos ba't makikisawsaw pa ako sa kung anu-ano dyan?

Pero that all changed nung nakilala ko n tlga si Lord. Hindi biglaan pero gradually nalaman ko why it matters to do volunteer work.

Nasabihan ako once (I think around nung pandemic time) na mag-volunteer naman daw ako pero dedma lang me. Bakit? Di naman in-explain why importante gawin ang kawanggawa. (Or maybe di ko gets, kung in-explain man nalimutan ko na.) So ba't ko gagawin di ba?

Ganito na ako ngayon

Pero kung ako tatanungin nyo ngayon, aba, bawas kasalanan din pag may time mga sis at bro. Tumulong tayo kung saan may nangangailangan. (Wag mong sabihing wala kang kasalanan dahil lahat tayo nagkakasala araw-araw ng walang palya. Kaya nga sinasabi ko lagi magkumpisal dapat tayo madalas eh.)

Di ba't sabi nga ni Hesus, ‘Tandaan ninyo, nang gawin ninyo ito sa pinakahamak sa mga kapatid Kong ito, sa Akin ninyo ito ginawa.' Mateo 25:40. (Basahin nyo lahat for context, Mateo 25:31-40)
Hindi ko rin alam yan noon. Ok, siguro naririnig ko nmn noon pa pero laging labas sa kabilang tenga. Bingi sa dami ng mga mortal kong kasalanan na di ikinukumpisal dati.

👉Pero I have learned these past few years since nagbalikloob ako sa Panginoon na seryoso yang Bible verse na yan; it's not a joke. ‼️ Marami nang santo nagpatunay dyan in over 2,000 yrs of Christianity. Kahit di ka santo kung kilala mo si Lord tlga alam mong totoo yan.

That is one of the hardest thing to believe but it is the Truth! And kadalasan hindi tlga mapapatunayan ng karamihan kung hindi nmn tayo nagkakawanggawa. Paano mo makikita ang Diyos sa iyong kapwa kung ikaw mismo di mo alam na kasama mo palagi ang Panginoon lalo na't nabinyagan ka naman?

Ano ba ang tunay na pagkakawanggawa?

Tumutulong ka ba sa iba pag alam mong may makukuha kang kapalit? Mali po yan! Dati ganyan din ako pero thru God's grace nalaman kong sobrang mali ng ganyang mindset.

‼️ Wag kang tumulong dahil may gusto kang makuhang kapalit. Hindi yan tunay na pagtulong sa kapwa. (Di rin uso sa pamilya namin yan eh kaya the past few yrs ko lang natutunan maling-mali yan.) Real talk: pakitang tao lang yan pag ganyan ka tumulong.

Sa totoo lang, maraming tao kailangan ng tulong kahit saan. Hindi lang ntin nakikita kasi di natin tinitingnan o pinapansin. Volunteering is one way of helping others out.

Wag mong sabihing tamad sila lahat kaya mahirap sila kasi ikaw din mismo may sarili kang katamaran pero binibigyan ka pa rin ng Diyos ng mga biyaya di ba? Sila rin may sariling abilidad pero hindi nila alam paano gagamitin o palalaguin, o kaya pagod na sila at nawalan na ng pag-asa. Hindi mo alam lahat kung ano ang pinagdadaanan ng mga taong lugmok sa kahirapan.

👉Proud Pinoy ka di ba? May bayanihan spirit tayo di ba? O gamitin natin sa mabuti. Gawa rin ng mabuti pag may time, volunteer work is just one of them.

Kung ayaw mo sumali sa mga parish organizations o eto sa gobyerno pwede mag-volunteer. Wag mong sabihing mabuti kang tao kung wala ka namang ginagawang mabuti para sa kapwa na di ka nage-expect na may makukuhang kapalit. Kilos din tayo pag may time para sa kapwa, wag puro sarili lang iniisip natin.

Have you ever thought about doing charity work even if you don't get paid? When was the last time you helped someone without asking for anything in return? What indeed is the point of volunteering?

Me back then

Did you know, I never did volunteer work before. Why? I didn't think about things like that back then. Can't even fix my life, so why would I get involved in something like that?

But that all changed when I finally got to know the Lord. It wasn't all of a sudden, but gradually I learned why it matters to do volunteer work.

I was told once (I think around the pandemic time) that I should volunteer somewhere but I just didn't care. Why? It wasn't explained to me why volunteering is important. (Or maybe I just didn't get it, if it was explained. I forgot.) So why would I do it, right?

But if you ask me now, well hey, let's reduce our sins too whenever we can dear brothers and sisters. Let's help where it is needed. (Don't say you have no sin because we all sin everyday without fail. That's why I always say we should confess frequently.)

Didn't Jesus say, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brethren of Mine, you did for Me.’ Matthew 25:40. (Read more for context, Matthew 25:31-40) I didn't know that back then. Ok, maybe I've heard it before but it always goes out the other ear. I was deaf from all my mortal sins which I didn't bother to confess for a long time.

👉But I have learned these past few years since my spiritual renewal that the quoted Bible verse is serious; it's not a joke. ‼️ Many saints have proven that in over 2,000 yrs of Christianity. Even if you're not a saint if you really know the Lord you know that it's true.

That is one of the hardest things to believe in but it is the Truth! And most people can't really prove it if we don't do charity work. How can you see God in your neighbor if you yourself don't know that the Lord is always with you, especially since you were baptized?

Anyway, we're getting off topic haha. Let's go back. 😅

What is true charity?

Do you help others when you know you'll get something in return? That's wrong! I used to be like that too but through God's grace I learned that such a mindset is very wrong.

‼️ Don't help because you want something in return. That's not how to really help others. (That's something I never learned in our family, so I only learned it is wrong in the past few years.) Real talk: you're just showing off when you help like that.

In reality, there are many people who need help everywhere. We just don't see it because we don't look at it nor pay attention. Volunteering is one way of helping others out.

Don't say they're all lazy that's why they're poor because you too have your own laziness but God still gives you blessings, right? They also have their own abilities but they don't know how to utilize or grow it, or they are tired and have lost hope. You don't know everything that people living in poverty are going through.

👉You're proud to be Pinoy, right? We have a bayanihan spirit, don't we? Then let's use it for good! Do good when you have time, volunteer work is just one of them.

If you don't want to join parish organizations then here's something from the government, you can volunteer. Don't say you're a good person if you don't do anything good for others without expecting anything in return. Let's also act when we have time for others, let's not just think about ourselves.
