Yeah I've encountered this type of person before. When liars wanna lie they will keep on lying and never admit anything despite the evidence. Of course when we're arguing with someone we're not in court so they aren't bound by law to tell the truth and thus the bad-faith argument behavior. Ah what a life we live on Earth.

This is why there are laws and simple common sense and moral laws that still get broken. And even if we tell them not to break such laws we are the ones who become exasperated. We end up turning away from them, as you mentioned, disengaging from the conversation. Thus people's bad behavior prevails.
