Little Cherine Book 09 - BPost048

Apparently my typing in the diary, or else, my thoughts as I did, reached him in a horribly garbled manner, giving him a severe headache as it screeched off into ultra high sounds. He said he felt as if he were dying.

We called for a meeting in Freddie and this new development was argued very passionately. Especially so when the Muyzith suggested that whatever freak of nature has been allowing us to contact each other may be breaking up. They think it might be better we allow it to happen and do not search for a way to keep the portal open between us. They felt my fury but do not seem to care, they are just delighted at the possibility that we may lose contact with Arthur.

Robbie pointed out to me that if they were sophisticated beings, they would have hidden their delight until their theory was proven in fact. He considers their inability to control their emoting a sign that they have not been healed yet. He asked me to think of them as sick children. I’m willing to consider them sick adults, I refuse to allow Robbie to play on my empathy by calling them children.

I have not been writing for nearly two weeks so as to prevent the recurrence of causing Arthur pain. A Unation engineer on the void energy transference project wondered whether their experiments could have caused the breakdown in communications. He asked that I type as they use their machine at full power. I first told Arthur and he agreed to risk it.

The project has been temporarily shut down. We cannot close it forever, as it is an exciting development and even Arthur wants it to continue. From our side, though we want to experiment with it, I asked that we wait until Arthur dies. Arthur was the first to show me that I have not thought it through. As he pointed out, if he dies and manages to wait for us in the void, he will still be able to ‘hear’ me or my diary. He thinks he might hear me even more strongly.

When we tried the experiment, I did not want to only write, I also wanted to chat so that he could report what was happening as it happened. He did not answer me, even though my chatting with him should have appeared on his screen. When he finally was able to chat he frightened all of us.

Apparently the symptoms were much worse this time and his body went into spasms. From a violent jerk of his arm he hurt his shoulder and another spasm hurt his back. We dare not continue, at his age it could cause a fatal heart attack.

Robbie asked me not to write and told the scientists to use their equipment again. As the void he searched in all ways he could think of for signs of even atoms of energy being siphoned towards Noelle. Nothing!

“I think they are not reaching into the void, they must be tapping into some other level. I want the experiment repeated, but this time I will be, as the void, within the room with them in Noelle and sampling the energy they receive. If it is different in any way from the void energies, then we have to presume I am right.”

Robbie was right and we are faced with the most exciting breakthrough, if I am right. I’m convinced the equipment is drawing into whatever level is facilitating the communications between Arthur and us. Arthur, what do we do? We must continue learning about the other level, but I cannot bear the thought of you suffering.

We were in a meeting with Hettie, Eddie and Ordinx, when we were interrupted by a Muyzith delegation. They have requested that we return them to their own reality and have stipulated the following: It was agreed that all joint scientific projects belong to all the species, so they want blueprints and all the data for creating inter-level energy disturbers (their description, more or less).

I am so mad I could…arghh, I don’t know what! They are determined to squander what little wealth their planet still has in manufacturing thousands of copies while strengthening the effect of the machine however they can. They promised us they will protect us, whether we want them to or not, by placing as large a number of these machines as they can in as many realities as they can.

I wanted us to refuse, tell them we are busy and that we will return them as soon as we are free to do so. Robbie refuses, declaring that we do not change our rules to suit us. Everyone else, of whatever species (apart from the Muyzith) would not have minded if we did delay our departure but, with time, they will draw a lot of comfort from Robbie’s decision. They will not from me, for I am determined to find a way to block them, even if it has to be according to our rules.

Being determined is one thing; succeeding is another.

“Robbie, since we are returning the Muyzith to their reality, can we first pass from their Earth to record a message from them for the Eqkee people? It would be such a pity to go there without doing so.” Robbie nodded his agreement and Freddie veered.

“We understand you have detoured to the local Earth? We did not agree to such a delay.”

Robbie stared coldly at the Muyzith. “You asked that we return you to your reality. Should I ask Freddie to open up for your ship to leave?”

“It would take years for us to arrive at our planet!”

“That is your problem. Since we have arrived in your reality as you requested and a new request was made that we carry a message from the local Earth to the Eqkee, that takes precedence to our taking you to your planet.”

I stepped between them, keeping my voice and emoting as sweet as possible. “There is no reason for you to worry. Whenever we have finished making the visits we are planning to make, we will jump to another reality so as to return to this reality just after you left your home world, so you will not have lost any time.” Robbie brushed my mind lightly and called for an Anadir scientist.

“Please wait, at least one of your people should be present.”

By the time the scientist arrived we had quite an audience. “As you know the Muyzith demanded as their right, a full sharing of all knowledge to which they contributed. Please see to it that you prepare for handing over to them before their departure from Freddie all knowledge as was available to you up to that date. I presume the Muyzith scientists have withdrawn from the project?”

“They are still present.”

6073

“That is a breach of our security, I should have been informed immediately. They have declared war on us and Arthur, no information is to be shared with them as from the date they declared their intentions.”

“The knowledge they have gained since then by being present?”

“That is a cost we will have to bear thanks to my stupidity in not warning you earlier. Have you made any dramatic gains since then?

“No. Mostly we have discussed ways to strengthen the output without an increase in cost from this end. We have not come up with a workable theory.”

“Good. Please keep me posted.”

The Muyzith spluttered with indignation until Cherine spoke up. “You made your demands on us according to our rules. We are final arbiters of how we interpret our rules, not you. Please advise your people that you are confined to your residences, eating places, spaceship and the immediate surrounding area. Any spying of our computers or scientists will result in our considering them acts of war while a truce exists and we’ll confiscate your computers. You are free to take action against us once you are responsible for your own safety and lives.”

As soon as the Muyzith were gone, she turned to me. “Careful Sam, do not do anything to destroy them in your eagerness to protect Arthur.”

I grinned. “Me? Friend of aliens?” I got a few chuckles. “Cherine love, all I plan for them are ways to help cure them.” She nodded without responding with a grin.

“You are a sneaky little devil. I had not thought of returning them within hours of our departure.”

“We have lots of time to work out why that is a good idea.”

His eyes widened. “You do not have a reason?”

“Just a feeling that there is a reason. Give me time and I’ll find it.”

He chuckled and then pretended to complain and boasted to Cherine, “See, she has learnt well from her crazy father and is acting without making plans.”

“Our Samantha? I wouldn’t bet on it Robert.”

He chuckled. “I never bet on anything to do with her, love.”

Both of them were playing a game to boost everyone’s faith in me and they knew that I knew, as did most of our loves. I did wonder at my intervention and why I’d made such a decision. I went to my waterfall and lost all track of time. I came out of there with a vague plan of action - I’m keeping it ‘private’ for now.

As we arrived, I felt my loves were largely ignoring everything as they tried to guess my plan. They cannot, for it is not one single strand I weave.

6074

When Robbie had arrived at this reality, he thought of arriving a number of years after our last departure, so for the ‘bodiless’ Cherine it has been four years since she’s last seen us. We were really surprised to find them living in Cyprus, in the centre of a ring of soldiers.

“They claim the soldiers are here for our protection. For a few weeks after you left we were treated by the media and the governments as heroes and the hope of mankind’s future. Then the first questions started and people grew afraid of us.

The governments agreed on a proposal made by an American church leader and they had they showed us some tact by meeting with us. They asked us to go into voluntary exile and stay in the area they choose for us. We were also asked not to recruit any further Cherinians. They created a town in Kenya - Robert chose it. You should see it, they built really luxurious homes for us.

For the next two years we stayed there, only leaving to help when countries faced calamities and we were asked by their government to help save lives or property. Europe did as they have done in your reality and the newly formed European Union offered us the choice of a second home within their Union. I chose Cyprus.”

Wryly Robbie asked, “What prompted such generosity?”

“Alki had secret meetings with the Greek government and he pointed out that you are bound to return someday.”

“How many Cherinians are there?”

“All together about eight hundred. They only know about us, those that are here.” They were close to two hundred.

Robbie seems to be incapable of being critical of any Cherine. We felt he was angry with Robert, blaming him for taking such a soft stance. I think I can say that us girls are fairer, since we hold both our Robert and Cherine in the same special place in our hearts.

“Pappou, what of your business?”

“They were taken over, run for me by a board of directors made up of accountants from various international auditing companies.”

She grimaced sympathetically. “Have you lost much money?”

He shrugged. “It was expected Dominique.”

“The same for you Elia, father?”

“My ships were all given bareboat charters for the lifetimes of my ships. Enough is earned to give me an income and replace the ships as they age.”

We could sense Robbie was itching to do something dramatic. I ignored the girls, but when Cher prodded me mentally, I spoke up. “It seems you have been very lucky, our family lived with fears of what our governments would do for many years. It seems your world is softer and more reasonable. At least they tried to be fair.” The relief Cherine and her Robert felt was almost comical as they sensed Robbie relax.

6075

He nodded. “Fair enough Sam, but not acceptable. We have to change things.”

“But we have! How do you think they will react to the presence of Freddie in their skies?” He burst out laughing and soon everyone was in a good mood. Now we all felt free to chat with those we love.

As I’d surmised, it was only a matter of time. First the local officer paid us a visit, then the Cypriot government officials with the international contingent of ambassadors. They assured us that we are welcome and that as they are speaking to us, all the major governments are sending their top officials to meet us. Luckily Robbie handled them so I was free to play.

Cherine made a big thing of Sheena, kissing her and telling her she is so proud of her helping Kalliopi. She then asked her, playfully, whether she is the Cherine of her people. That spoilt the mood for Robbie. He bit his lip but kept quiet, looking to Cher for her opinion. She pretended not to feel our anxiety and kneeling before her asked in a teasing voice, “Would you like to be their Cherine?”

Sheena is sensitive enough to feel us, even though we were trying to pretend we were still playing and chatting. However, Robbie did not block himself that well until she stared at him. His heart melted as her big eyes stared at him anxiously.

“I don’t know.”

“It would be nice for them, they would have the best Cherine ever, but I don’t think you should.”

“Why?”

“Because you have the sweetest heart that was only made for laughing and loving.” As her words penetrated, Robbie jumped to the beach and walked by himself. Cher did not say anything we did not know, but sometimes it needs words for the truth to be faced squarely.

We invited all the local Cherinians to our taverna for supper. We did not know some of our guests and we enjoyed meeting them. They brought with them one middle aged man who was not a Cherinian. We explained to the Akiards what his problem is and they took him to play with them.

Cher asked our Cherine. “What would you do in such a case? Panayiotis has the sweetest heart, but he is simpleminded. We’ve tried using our healers to create new connections in his brain, but it has not helped him. He has troubled us deeply. How intelligent must any person be for them to become Cherinians?”

Cherine grinned. “That kind of question should be answered by either a poet or, lacking one, Samantha.”

“I disagree Cherine. Any kind of artist should qualify.”

She clapped her hands, laughing. “Which artist Samantha? Hasn’t Robert claimed that artists are children?”

“But so is Panayiotis! Do you mean that if we accept an artist as a Cherinian we should accept Panayiotis?” All the Roberts chuckled or laughed. Jade grinned at us as the girls pretended to look at her sceptically.

They shared that my thoughts had turned serious and the laughter faded. “We must make clear that no human being is allowed to be judged by any Cherinian as being fit or not to become a Cherinian due to their education or upbringing. Knowledge and custom has nothing to do with intelligence.”

“That is obvious Samantha, education can be remedied.”

6076

I shook my head, disagreeing. “Not according to our own past. How many civilisations have judged others with contempt, calling them savages or even animals, because they did not have the same way of thinking and knowledge. As you said Tina, any Cherinian with intelligence can grow, learn and become the equal of those highly educated and sophisticated. I fear there will always be those who forget that.”

“You are making it a rule for all Cherinians?” An Anadir asked me. “What you have said is not only true for your species Samantha, it seems to be true for most of us.”

Cherine added, “If empathy is lacking.”

Sadly I agreed, “You have said it yourself Cherine, many Cherinians will discard your gift. We must not rely only on empathy. We must make it a rule.”

“I agree.” Empathia said. “However, the rule about intelligence is just as important. How do we set a rule for that? It is just as open to misinterpretation, deliberately or not.”

She was right and it worried me. Just as the physically strong are contemptuous of the weak, so are the highly intelligent contemptuous of the plodding thinker who is slow to understand. Just as with the Wirms, we are bound to meet many species who did not require high intelligence to evolve into humans. Do we exclude them from the family of Cherinians? I think not.

It is rarely that Dommi takes part in such public discussions and when she does speak, all listen carefully. “I think I see where you are taking this Samantha. Cher has already implied by her question that she is worrying about the same problem. You are thinking it would not be fair to the soul of Panayiotis to make him a Cherinian as he is in this life. If we allow him to age and die, in his next life he is very likely to be born with a normal mind and grow when he is accepted as a Cherinian. If he is made a Cherinian now, he can never grow and reach his potential.” I nodded. “I see that way of thinking could also be dangerous, condemning a large number of people because of prejudice. How do we protect ourselves from using such a rule to wrongly exclude people or species who are suitable Cherinians? As you were thinking, should we have excluded the Wirms?” I should have guessed she would ‘catch’ my secret thoughts and worries.

“Could it be we should have two distinctly separate rules, one for individuals within any society and another for species?”

“No.” Haven answered Empathia. “That would be cowardly of us.” She hesitated. “Perhaps we might have to, but I do not like it. If we are willing to accept a species who are all like Panayiotis, how can we justify excluding him?”

Cher pulled a face. “Now you see why he has troubled us.”

Glumly I said, “We are saying that we cannot use the criteria that a soul should be capable of reaching its potential or else we do not accept it as a Cherinian. It might be true that it would be criminal to do that to Panayiotis and yet not true for an entire species. Why? Are they not also likely to evolve by being born within other species?”

“As the Wirms?”

“They are the only ones who are always reborn within their species and we have accepted them as Cherinians.”

“What if we Inguel were less intelligent?”

“So what isi mou? When you die, doesn’t your soul move on? It cannot be born again as an Inguel. Ultimately you would have become a Cherinian.”

6077

“Each soul bears the identity of its most recent life. At the end of time, you will be mostly the Samantha of the Terran species. You would have that there are no souls bringing to the mother soul the identity of Inguel? Have we no place in all she needs to be? Are we then only bringers of new souls that must go on to be reborn as other species and our identities forgotten in the distant past?”

She was arguing with passion, as if she was being excluded and I had no easy answer for her. Do we have the right to decide for others? To a certain degree, yes, but to what degree was the question. There are so many ethical and moral grey areas, so many ifs and buts.

Robbie had listened without taking part, waiting until he saw we were floundering, unable to reach a consensus. “Here is what we will do. I accept the rule with regard to knowledge, education and custom. With regard to intelligence, we cannot find a straight cut philosophy that applies to all. With regard to Panayiotis, I say we allow him to be reborn so that he is capable of reaching his potential. Whatever our theories, his mind is damaged as he is now and we dare not accept him as a Cherinian. We would be committing a crime against his potential. I suggest that we help him remember his life and personality when he is reborn, so that something of Panayiotis remains a part of his new life. As for others, we must do the same, judge each person or species individually. Perhaps the keyword is damaged, which then excludes species who are self aware being denied. I’m not setting a rule, hopefully with time a truth or set of truths will become evident. Does anyone disagree?”

Gratefully we agreed, but deep inside me, I felt I was being cowardly, that I should work my way through the labyrinth of truths and dangers. I will keep on considering the matter until I feel I have broken through my own barriers - that I suspect are created out of my own prejudices and fears.

The girls asked me what my fears are. Let us take as an example Panayiotis. Say we had allowed him to become a Cherinian. He would have been able, with our help, to open doors within his mind. Teleportation, telepathy and who know what else. With his inability to consider the ramifications of every action he takes, could he hurt others or cause damage? I think so.

I thought I’d finished writing about Panayiotis, but the question forced me to think of another alternative. What if by becoming a Cherinian, his mind, with the help of his healer and us, can repair itself and grow? We’ve decided to take him to the void to see his soul.

Panayiotis is one of those rare people, simple or not, who never expects to find evil in any other and therefore never sees evil, and therefore he does not fear. He accepts all that is done for or to him with such sweetness that it is understandable why the local Cherinians keep him among themselves. It was not solely to look after him, his emoting is a joy for all who can feel him. Trustingly he followed his Socrati to the void and it was all just a game to him. He was awed, but mostly he was bubbling with his happiness.

The Akiards have grown up with the knowledge that each of us is allowed to do whatever he/she wants. No reasons are demanded, no explanations, unless they are thoughtless and hurt another. They had been told why Panayiotis is being brought to the void. They rejoiced at the beauty of his soul and formed a ring around him.

When Panayiotis found out these are the Akiard kids he has played with, he was overjoyed and sped to them. We were surprised to see the ring close in on him and then they imploded. Awed at the sight of their World and worried at exactly what they were doing, we waited, all dancing among us forgotten.

*My children reasoned that I could help him. I have a thought to share with you. Would integrating his present life with a past life of his help him? He is alien to me and I need your advice.*

*No soul is alien Akiard I. Can you do it without damaging/losing his present personality? Can you first examine what he was like in his previous life?* A short time passed.

*I have done so. He was damaged in his previous life.* We sensed the I was not finished and waited. *The life before that, it too was damaged in the same manner! What do I do?*

Three lives wasted like this! It sounded, if not impossible, then improbable. Panayiotis was released and after sending him enough love motes to last a lifetime, we returned to our bodies.

6078

Solomon, leading members of the Unation and all other species joined us. We asked that Akiar do so also. The Wirms, apart from those held by their friends, constantly jumped between the multitude of Sparklers and Kinytians above us. Panayiotis was taken to sleep with his Akiard friends. We did first help rid him of his sexual needs (using our healers to tranquillise his body). The thought of him needing something he does not understand and trying to find it from his Akiard friends was not funny - he could hurt himself and by doing so, hurt them.

“Solomon? Any experience similar to this?”

“You have not given us much time to consider it. We are of the opinion that souls can and do, rarely, search out a body that suits them. It only rarely happens since they do not usually have much time as the void tries to rid itself of the soul immediately. Since your species experience such ejection as being of extreme pain, we do not understand how he did it - unless the damage reduced the reaction of the void, giving him more time to choose.”

“Anybody else have a suggestion as to how it happened?”

An Elipian nodded. “Perhaps he is as our species. We do not experience pain and the void does not force us to leave immediately. Thus it is we are able to choose to return as Elipians.”

The Wirms confirmed it is the same for them - with great joy. A number of other species agreed that it is the same for them. I can’t help wondering what it is about living as a Terran that affects our souls in such a negative way. Could it be that our souls are damaged in some manner?

“Perhaps his first life in a damaged body affected his soul so that it experienced the void in a way different to your species. It would feel most comfortable in a body similar to the one it had just lost and would naturally prefer another that is similar.”

“In that case, if such a body is available, we suspect the void would allow it to choose the body.”

I was awed at the thought. “If we had allowed him to age and die, he would have repeated the experience and we could not have made him a Cherinian!”

“Our I asks,” Akiar asked, “should it search his past lives until it finds an undamaged one?”

“That might be the only solution. Freddie, return to another reality, but make certain you are able to return to this one within seconds. We are going to need more time, we cannot take Panayiotis back to the void immediately.”

The next morning we found the Akiards waiting for us at the taverna. Fondly Robbie made an exception and rubbed a few tummies as he greeted them. “You are worried?”

“About Panni. Since the void, he is troubled.”

“Do you know about what?”

“Of his previous lives. He asks us why he always returns as a damaged male.”

“Have you tried to provide him with an answer?”

“No, we told him he must ask Samantha, that she always finds the answer. He is waiting for her. We explained he must wait until she has eaten, as she thinks better if her stomach is full.” Mentally I groaned as I sensed my loves gleefully thinking up a myriad jokes about that.

Robbie chuckled. “I think you know our Samantha too well. Bring him as soon as I’ve had my coffee and cigarette, so that I also can think better.” I sent him a big-big kiss for that.

6079

This was a new Panayiotis. He would not look us in the eye, his gaze fixed on his shoes, while he mumbled his question. The sweetness was there, but the joy was gone. I could feel there was pain in him, though he could not understand why. I rushed over to him and hugged him. He sank to his knees and tears filled over and coursed down his weathered cheeks. I put my hands to either side. “I love you Panni. We all do. There is no reason for you to be troubled. I promise we will show you something even more beautiful than the void you saw last night.”

Just like a child he forgot his woes for a moment and looked at me with wonder. “What?”

I grinned. “I should have said we are going to help you see something about yourself that is magical. Do you think your Cherine is a wonderful person?” He nodded, his eyes adoring as he looked at her for a moment. “What about the other Cherinians of your world, are they all wonderful people?” Again he nodded. “Do you know who is the most wonderful of all of you? You.”

He was not that simple that he would buy that and he demurred, careful not to hurt my feelings. I grinned and then looked serious. “Would you like to know why you are always born with a brain that does not work the way it should?”

“Yes please.”

“Because you are the only one who can.” I sat on the floor and patted the ground next to me so that he would sit by me. “There is something you do not know about us, something a little bit sad. None of us, not even any Cherine, can choose which body to be born in. Only you can - just like the Wirms.”

“Why I want spoilt brain?”

“Because your soul knows that somebody has to use that body, some soul. Your soul knows that it will make the other souls very sad, so it grabs them to save the others. Don’t you sometimes wonder why it is you see so many people are unhappy, but you feel happy most of the time? It is because you know that your life is not wasted, the very fact that you were born as you are is your gift to other souls. Panayioti, this is the last time you will make that sacrifice. Next time we will be there, your Cherine will be with you to talk to your soul and show it that it must allow some other soul to take a turn, for being as you are teaches your soul things it cannot learn when it is born like us. Because you chose this kind of life three times, the person you will be in your next life will be very clever, but also the nicest person in the whole world and…that person will live forever!”

Once I had chosen that particular truth for him it did not take long for everyone else to join in. When the Akiards also did, making him feel he is very special, he forgot his woes and became the cheerful Panayiotis that so easily wins hearts. It is my secret amusement watching how seriously the Akiards have taken what I said and I feel how it is affecting the way they think. Isn’t it funny that it can affect them so strongly while most Normals only laugh it off as some fancy of mine to help a childish mind.

We stayed for ten days in the dead reality, allowing our Cherine to awaken the fire in Cher while Robbie talked with Robert. As I felt them change I started to worry. Taking them back filled with zeal and enthusiasm might make us feel we achieved something, but what will their future be? I lived through those years of Robbie fearing our governments and what the hatred of our own people could do to us. What right do we have to ask more of them than we dared?

The Akiards have changed Panayioti. The games they play are always explained to him in simple terms he can understand and he has grown to feel that he is a warrior of his Cherine - without him understanding what it means to be a warrior in the world he belongs to. All he knows is that he must help people grow to love his Cherine.

We returned and were pleased to find that all their high technology did not betray us. We intercepted communications that showed they are puzzled about Freddie flickering on their radar screens. By the time they are able to use their computers to find the gap when we did not exist in their skies, we will have told them about our short trip.

6080

Troops created a corridor along the road from the Cherinian prison to the Presidential Palace in Nicosia. For those who care, among the readers of Arthur, in this reality the Greeks did not try to overthrow President Makarios, so the palace was never bombed.

A fleet of black Mercedes limousines arrived with an invitation for us to meet the government leaders. Robbie stared coldly at the man who gave us the invitation (what would Robbie have done if they’d sent a little girl?).

“Please convey our regrets. We understand your world has restricted all Cherinians to this area and another prison camp in Kenya. As the weather is not pleasant here at this time, we will be moving to Kenya. If any of them wish to visit us there, they will be accorded full hospitality and we undertake their travel will be monitored so that they arrive back home safely.”

All the local Cherinians had to pack so quickly that I am certain they left much of what they needed behind. Nobody argued with Robbie and before anyone could return from Nicosia we were in Kenya - much to the consternation of the local officials.

Freddie showed us, with much amusement, the government leaders flying in war jets so as to get to Nairobi as quickly as possible. Their embassies had cars waiting for them and they were quickly brought to us. I’ve never seen so many politicians in rumpled suits and smelly from perspiration caused by their fear as the jets flew at enormous speed. Robert dressed up for them, but Robbie appeared in his usual casual shirt and slacks.

“Good afternoon and welcome. Your Robert and Cherine have made their house available for our meeting. Shall we make ourselves comfortable there?”

The usual platitudes were exchanged, mostly tongue-in-cheek from our side, and then we sensed them decide to grab the bull by the horns.

“Mr Teller, there seems to be a misunderstanding. We understand you claimed the local Cherinians are imprisoned; that is not true. We asked, and they volunteered, to stay in the two designated areas of their choice for their protection.”

“No Cherinian needs the protection of anyone else - not even of another Cherinian.”

“Still, there could have been unpleasant incidents. We did think it was better the ordinary man in the street comes to the realisation that they are not a threat to the rest of mankind. They have already earned enormous goodwill by their voluntarily following our suggestions.”

Robbie looked very relaxed as he asked, “Do you know how many hospitals there are on our Earth? Apart from small clinics in rural areas, only eleven - and those are mostly empty. I am certain the local Cherinians would have earned much more goodwill if they had been allowed to travel freely and heal all the sick or injured people. I am forced to the conclusion that you are the ones who fear the Cherinians, not your people. You fear that a rapid growth of Cherinianism would cause you to lose control over your people, forcing you to give precedence to their interests, instead of your own careers.”

Good old dad, blunt as always. There is nothing politicians hate more than having to deal with someone like him, so I kept quiet, monitoring their reactions.

Of course they claimed that they had already planned to ask the Cherinians to help heal their people, but our early return has now thrown their plans out of sequence. As soon as they confirmed that they would welcome the help of Cherinians in curing the sick, their world was shocked to see people (all aliens projected as Terrans, except for the Wirms) appearing in hospitals all around the world. They ignored the demands of staff that they do not enter wards and began curing people by the thousands. Robbie nearly gave our visitors a heart attack when he told them that he has taken them at their word and within the day over a million sick people will be healthy again.

Next [Book 09] - Post 049

I hope you enjoy reading this story of fantasy, adventure and love - and should some of it be true for our reality, I hope you will love our Cherine.
