Saludos amigos Hivers. Una nueva semana empieza y con ella la esperanza en Dios y la fe de que nuestras metas sean cumplidas. Les deseo mucha salud para que puedan llegar a los objetivos propuestos, y la energía para lograrlos.

El día de hoy me siento feliz, pues inicio mi segundo, post grado esta vez elegí Medicina Interna. Después de pensarlo un poco y teniendo que elegir entre dos Postgrados (Anestesia y Medicina Interna) en los cuales fui seleccionado.

Aunque no fue una decisión fácil, ya que ambas especialidades me aceleran el corazón, pienso que la medicina interna es la madre de todas las especialidades (opinión muy personal).

Desde que inicié este largo transitar, me he sentido atraído hacía el cuidado del adulto, las patologías crónicas, cómo se comportan en nuestro organismo, el cuidado, el tratamiento y el progreso del paciente.

También deseo expresar que ser un profesional de la salud no es nada fácil, especialmente en nuestro país. Muchas veces hacemos sacrificios en el silencio, lidiamos con múltiples enfermedades, estudiamos día y noche durante toda nuestra vida. A veces no limitamos de pasar un 24 y 31 de diciembre con nuestra familia por cuidar a otros, y ni hablar la cantidad de horas que duramos sin dormir.

Yo diría que ser médico es un don de Dios que se le ha entregado a algunos, créanme que no es nada fácil tener la responsabilidad de luchar contra la muerte para salvarle la vida a las personas, especialmente hoy en día con esta cuarentena.

El médico debe atender a su paciente, tratarlo bien, hablarle con la verdad, darle animo a seguir adelante, hacer el papel de psicólogo a veces, ser empático, estar atento las 24 horas de las evolución clínica, ser cuidadoso con todo el entorno del mismo para que no se infecte, y también secar las lágrimas de quienes estamos tratando.

Hoy motivo a mis colegas a seguir adelante, sabemos que muchas veces no es valorado todo nuestro esfuerzo, especialmente con el COVID-19. Sin embargo, quiero recordarles que no estudiamos para recibir aplausos, sino que estudiamos por ese momento de satisfacción cuando un paciente que estuvo al borde de la muerte o con un dolor crónico e insoportable, nos dice con ojos llenos de lágrimas “Gracias por todo doc”.

Y a ti amigo que lees estas líneas, te invito a ser más consciente al momento de asistir a una institución de salud pidiendo ser atendido, por favor entiende que nosotros también somos seres humanos que pasamos por momentos difíciles, que pedimos ser tratados con empatía, muchas veces trabajamos con una sonrisa detrás del tapabocas mientras nuestro mundo personal se nos cae.

Mi Consejo para todos es que amen lo que hacen y den lo mejor en todo momento, que las recompensas siempre será dada por el mejor médico: nuestro Dios.

Greetings Hivers friends. A new week begins and with it the hope in God and the faith that our goals will be fulfilled. I wish you good health so that you can reach the proposed objectives, and the energy to achieve them.

Today I feel happy, because I start my second, post graduate this time I chose Internal Medicine. After thinking about it a bit and having to choose between two Postgraduate courses (Anesthesia and Internal Medicine) in which I was selected.

Although it was not an easy decision, since both specialties make my heart race, I think that internal medicine is the mother of all specialties (very personal opinion).

Since I began this long journey, I have been attracted to adult care, chronic pathologies, how they behave in our body, care, treatment and patient progress.

I also want to express that being a health professional is not easy, especially in our country. Many times we make sacrifices in silence, we deal with multiple illnesses, we study day and night throughout our lives. Sometimes we don't limit spending December 24 and 31 with our family to care for others, let alone the number of hours we go without sleep.

I would say that being a doctor is a gift from God that has been given to some, believe me, it is not easy to have the responsibility of fighting death to save people's lives, especially today with this quarantine.

The doctor must attend to his patient, treat him well, speak to him with the truth, encourage him to continue forward, play the role of a psychologist at times, be empathic, be attentive 24 hours a day to clinical evolution, be careful with the entire environment of the itself so that it does not get infected, and also to dry the tears of those we are treating.

Today I motivate my colleagues to move forward, we know that many times all our effort is not valued, especially with COVID-19. However, I want to remind you that we do not study to receive applause, but we study for that moment of satisfaction when a patient who was on the verge of death or with chronic and excruciating pain, tells us with eyes full of tears “Thank you for everything doc ”.

And to you, friend who reads these lines, I invite you to be more aware when you go to a health institution asking to be treated, please understand that we are also human beings who go through difficult times, who ask to be treated with empathy, many times we work with a smile behind the mask while our personal world falls to us.

My advice to everyone is that they love what they do and give their best at all times, that the rewards will always be given by the best doctor: our God.
