Crypto Related Ads are now Paused in India

During the recent ICC T20 World Cup, we saw a flood of Crypto-related Ads on the televisions and I was quite happy for Crypto to be promoted that way but a part of me was a little scared as we in India are now in a delicate situation with the Government when it comes to Regulations into Crypto. So I was hoping that these Crypto Ads don't lead some half-assed guy to complain about this and that is exactly what happened.

Now you may hear that the Crypto Exchanges themselves stopped their Ads as they felt something was not right but the truth is that there was indeed a complaint that was filed by two Advocates and Delhi High Court did ask the Crypto Exchanges to stop their Ads. The main issue in the Ads seemed to be the joyful nature of the Ads that may mislead people to believe Cryptos are Safe Assets while on the other Spectrum we got Mutual Funds whose Ads are, well let's just say not so enthusiastic and it is made by choice as there are a lot of limitations on what can be shown in an Ad and what not. I know for a fact that even if this is a slight issue that was quickly resolved this will indeed put some weightage in the thought process of the regulatory bodies even if it is a minuscule thought.

Who is to Blame?

Frankly speaking, no one is to blame as we could say that the Crypto Exchanges should have waited for proper regulations and only then start their Ad Campaigns but on the flip side, the exchanges wanted to get a slight advantage by getting their Ads out early which I can understand to an extent. But the best option would have most certainly been to just show No Ads from the beginning and wait for the Regulations to kick in.
