Greetings Hivers, welcome to the Weekly ASEAN Hive "Hot Goss", where I @justinparke dig up false ASEAN Hive rumors and spread even more, but all in satirical fun and support of Southeast Asian content on Hive.

Β  Β  Β This week's curation is a bit of a departure from the norm, but at the moment I have no imagination or sense of creativity. I just found out yesterday that my one-year visa can't be renewed, so now I am stuck with a 3-month extension and leave the country.
Β  Β  Β I thought after losing everything while stranded abroad three years that we'd have a chance at resuming a normal life here in Cambodia. Instead I have been told I must pay work permits and violations dating all the way back to 2010, despite the work permit not being available back then.

Β  Β  Β I haven't been able to sleep, and it seems my family is now being forced to relive the nightmare we just experienced for three years. This will be the third forced family separation we have experienced due to governmental stupidity and corruption. The USA will not let us immigrate and Cambodia will not allow me to plan for more than one year into the future.
Β  Β  Β I feel I made a mistake borrowing money to buy land here, and I now only hope and pray that some day my family and I can find a country to live in that will simply accept us a family and allow us a chance at life.

Β  Β  Β I am not my regular self these days, and the rage I feel at the thought of another forced family separation due to the incompetency of the USA and Cambodian governments has totally consumed me in these days. I have shared three awesome posts as usual for this curation, but I am sorry I am unable to weave my usual hot gossip tales.
Β  Β  Β I need to feel happy to truly make use of my sense of humor, and I feel I may have to replace this weekly curation with something a little easier for me to maintain during the next several months. I really don't have much to say more than this right now, and apologies for this curation being a little late, I hope you all understand.

Until Next Time ASEAN Hivers....

Β  Β  Β Don't forget that this curation is merely fictional satire, so don't take anything I write too seriously.

We have been in these tough situations before, so we will survive through it because we have no choice. It is so frustrating to still experience problems like this after giving myself to this country for almost 13 years. In other places around the world I'd already be a legal citizen by now.

Frustrating indeed. Must be really tough. 13 long years, wow. You are right, in other countries you must be a legal citizen by now or at least a PR (permanent resident).

Bloody hell! That just sux and is ludicrous. Are you able to do a border run every 3 months? Not a solution of course, but might allow for no family separation. Or are you being forced back to US? I feel angry on your behalf so can only imagine your rage at this turn of events. Does it make a difference if you have a visa agent?

Border runs don't really work here, you can't change visa categories, and the tourist visa regime runs out after 60 days. It's hit and miss on whether a border run will work after 60 days, plus it would be so expensive to that 10 times a year even if it was possible. The 3-month extension for business visas is only available once, sort of meant to avoid the costs and legalities of renewing a one-year business visa. Now I've got to leave no matter what unless for some reason we are able to get the K-Visa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in less than 3 months, and only if they make a special allowance in my case. But either way, if get the K-Visa, I know I can return, just cross the border and return with no worries for the duration of my current passport.

The K Visa for whatever reason is not allowed to be done by agents, so they know very little about it and try to convince people it's not possible. Luckily we've got a guy on the inside now, only paid him $10 so far, but even though it's corruption, it's hundreds cheaper than a visa agent.

I am not being forced back to the US per say, but I will have to leave Cambodia at least for enough time to turn around come back. I don't know for certain they'd let me re-enter on a 30-day tourist visa because of my long history of residence visas. Such a nightmare, but still not enough to make us move to Svalbard and mine coal in the only visa-free place I know of in the world πŸ˜†.
