There are some cards in Splinterlands that cost under one dollar. If you look at their stats and abilities they may not seem like very good cards. But even then it is important to add these cards to your deck.

Because sometimes these cards become very useful in different mana battles. That is why it is necessary to have a few very cheap cards in your collection.

Today I am going to talk about one monster card whose price is very reasonable. Even at its maximum level it costs under one dollar. Cards like this are definitely worth adding to your deck.

The card I want to discuss is Port Guardian which belongs to the Element. It is a mana monster card.

If I talk about its visual appearance it looks like a horse shaped warrior wearing heavy battle armor. Both of its shoulders have beautiful defensive armor pieces.

It is holding a sword in its hands and is staring at the enemy as if it is ready to attack at any moment... Its overall design looks very impressive. Along with that it has good stats and only one ability.

As I mentioned earlier,cards like these may not be expensive but they can be very helpful in normal battles or difficult situations.

Now let's talk about its stats and abilities.

This is a defensive monster so you can use it as your main tank or as a secondary tank. If your team has a unit with the Charge ability you can place this monster in any position and still make it attack.

Since it is a defensive monster it has good Armor and Health. It has Armor which protects its Health and health. Armor absorbs melee and ranged attacks before Health takes damage. It also has a solid amount of Health which is excellent for a monster with this mana cost.

When you combine its Armor and Health it can easily survive for three to four rounds in many battles.

It also has Speed which increases its attack speed and also gives it a better chance to make enemy attacks miss. The higher the Speed the greater the advantage for any monster.

This is a melee monster so it performs best in the front position where it can attack normally. It has Melee Attack which means it deals 2 damage to the enemy every round.

One thing that often confuses players is the positioning of melee monsters...

Remember melee attacks can only hit from close range only.... If a melee monster does not have the Reach or Charge ability it cannot attack from other positions.

If you place it anywhere except the first position it will not be able to attack. A melee monster is meant to attack only from the first position.

However if it has Reach or Charge then it can also attack from the second position or other allowed positions. Understanding this rule will help you avoid common mistakes...

As mentioned earlier cards like this are very affordable and often underrated so they usually have only a few or one ability...

At Level 5, Port Guardian has only one ability called Corrosive Ward.

Corrosive Ward is a defensive ability that punishes melee attackers. Whenever a melee attacker successfully hits this monster, the attacking monster immediately loses 2 Armor. In other words every successful melee attack weakens the attackers Armor.

if the enemy monster has 5 Armor and successfully attacks Port Guardian, its Armor will be reduced by 2 leaving it with only 3 Armor. Every successful attack continues to weaken the enemy's defense.

This is the biggest advantage of Corrosive Ward. it gradually breaks the enemy's defensive line and makes heavily armored monsters much easier to defeat.

Now let's talk about the most important part of this review that is price and Renting.

At Level 1 this card costs only $0.01 which is extremely affordable. Even if you upgrade it to Level 5 it costs only around $0.20. You can almost think of this card as being free.

Whether you like its stats or abilities or not I highly recommend adding it to your deck. Cheap cards like this often become very valuable in low mana battles and other difficult matchups.

Since this card is already very inexpensive,it is generally not available for rent.

Instead of renting it you can simply buy it, add it to your deck permanently and make full use of its abilities and defensive power.
