What is Language?

Language is the tool of Communication between two species. One most famous, English phonetician and language scholars defines Language,

Language is the expression of ideas using speech sounds combined into words. Words are combined into sentences, this combination answering to that of ideas into thoughts.

The Science of Language is called Linguistics. There are about 7000 Languages in the world and 77 Languages in Pakistan including 68 local and 9 nonlocal. It can be in different formats like words, voice, commands, speech, facial expressions. Being Pakistani I can speak and understand Punjabi as a Native Language as well as Sariki, Urdu(National Language), and English(International Language). When a man is born, he or she is gifted only one language while he or she learns other languages from the society around him or her. Every species has different languages that are nearly impossible to understand for other species. Either they are animals or they are birds, they all have their languages that are merely sounds for us. Each type of language is linked with different formats. Language formate in Humans is Voice.

What is Sound?

Sound is the form of energy that is produced by a vibrating system. Where there is vibration, there is sound provided that there will be a medium because sound can't be transmitted or heard when there is no medium. It is the reason that Astrologist uses different devices to interact with each other in space. In Humans and birds sound is produced by different Voice-Boxes.

1. Phonatory System

In human phonatory system is mainly compromised of Larynx. This organ is not only involved in air passage but also voice production. Due to its prominent role in voice production, it is named as Human voice box.

In birds, this organ is replaced by Syrinx which is involved in voice production.

How Voice is Produced in Humans?

Voice is produced when air passes through special tissue flaps called Vocal Cards. When air is passed through these flaps, they start vibration. This vibration produces a sound that is later converted into Voice by our Phonation System. Voice has three important components,

  1. Sound
  2. Resonance
  3. Articulation

All spoken words resulted from these three components. Nature has gifted a specialized Phonation system to Humans because they can change their voice into singing and other voices whether they are pleasant or not. When sound is produced by air thrush from the lungs into vocal cards, it is amplified by throats, mouth cavity, and nasal passage. They are called sound resonators. When sound is applied it is articulated into words by soft palate, tongue, and lips. Different voices combined to make different words and different words combined to make different sentences. One specific type of understandable sentence maw a specific language.
