Unlocking the Learning Code: 7 Game-Changing Study Techniques

Have you ever struggled at school or struggled with learning something may be you're studying at school right now or studying for a degree or may be you're going for a certification like the PMP for example but also struggled with learning at school and it wasn't until I learned how to learn that things changed for me and took off so I want to say things that changed the game for me when it comes to learning each one complements the other and they're fantastic really easy to do something that anyone can do so.

Let's get into it first thing in mind maps now you may have heard of mind maps before it came from Tony Buzan in the 1970s he created an empire from memory techniques so this is a memory technique and that's why it actually really helps us but it's not just that it sets the scene for our entire learning journey so whatever our topic is maybe we're studying medicine maybe we're studying and project management, for example, maybe we're studying engineering whatever that topic is that's our main topic and then there are other the branches of that so for example with project management we've got scope you know we're managing our schedule and we're managing our cost and all of those things have other things that branch off from that then we need to turn that schedule into activities and we turn those activities into our project schedule and it just sets the scene from a high level and we're breaking it down each idea can flow.

The next as we break our ideas further down there's one more thing we can use in this particular area and that is a work break structure as well it's a similar idea but basically, we've got our core idea and we're breaking it down into smaller bits so if let's say we're running a marathon for example a marathon and then we might have our shoes we might have our training we might have other things stretching there is a way to study better studies more effectively now I am going to give you my seven steps on how to study step NO.1 study for 25 to 50 minutes then take a 10 to 15 minutes break go for a walking play with your dog do some jumping jacks push-ups just go get some fresh air get your blood flowing and then go back and study again for 25 to 50 more minutes and repeat that until you're finished with your studying.

Step No. 2 get six to eight hours of sleep the night after learning something according to Dr.James Moss if you have a good night's sleep six to eight hours the night after you learn something the next day when you wake up you'll remember it better than you had a poor night's sleep and not at least six to eight hours of sleep is known as the REM sleep there is no step two hour window your brain will replay what it learned the previous day and that's you remember it better when you wake up the next day if you do find yourself sleep-deprived before you study to take a fifteen to thirty minutes nap but no more than thirty minutes pretty simple so far right.

Let's move on to step No.3 take notes in class it's better if you take them yourself getting somebody else's notes and copying them is not the same when you take notes in class you are engaging your brain and you remember more from that class pretty self-explanatory right step NO.4 is clear your mind of all distractions I used to hold the record for the fastest to memorize a deck of cards the united states and sometime before I would memorize the deck card my brain would be worried about things in my life or things that were going on so what I would do to clear my mind of all distractions is I would close my eyes and I would visualize those scenarios the way that I wish they were or the way that I hope they would be one day then I would open my eye I would be relieved of that stress.

Then I would memorize a deck of cards clear my mind of all distributions, close my eyes and visualize things the way I wish they would be, and then follow on with my study great let's move on to step NO.5 is the keyword technique and what this is if you find your study and your mind starts to drift or wander use the keyword technique let's say you're studying about Abraham Lincoln and your mind start to drift focus it on a keyword about the texture reading and just say to yourself lincoln until your brain is once again focused on what you're reading and Abraham Lincoln pick a keyword out of the text we're halfway there step No.6 is to learn the most important ideas first if you're looking at a book some time, in the beginning, they'll have to learn objections or may be at the end they'll have a recap.

Look at those recaps look at that bullet point those are often the important details that the book or the professor or teacher want you to learn first and look for those details whenever you're reading or whenever you're studying learn the most important things first all right moving right along to point NO.7 is look at the back of your book and see if there is a list of terms or a glossary pr definitions if so familiarize yourself with those are even memorize then it'll give you a greater understanding of the material that you're reading in the book.
