Bento Cake to Celebrate 77th Years of Indonesia's Independence Day

August is a month full of struggles for the Indonesian people. This month, the Indonesian state has a history that should not be forgotten, the struggle after almost 3 centuries of being colonized by other nations and finally finding a bright spot that made this nation finally recognized as independent.
History says that Indonesia became independent and proclaimed its independence on August 17, 1945, it's been 77 years to be exact today. All residents participated in celebrating independence with various activities. Usually in the morning, flag ceremonies are held by official government agencies and educational activities, as well as the government holds a big ceremony in the court of the independent palace with wisdom. The reading of the proclamation, the raising of the flag and the arrangement of other activities related to independence.
In the neighborhood where I live, there are many events to welcome the celebration of independence, ranging from children to adults. This has been arranged by the complex committee which was formed a week ago. The people are very enthusiastic about this independence celebration. All of this was triggered by a 2-year vacuum due to a torturous pandemic, so this year all activities in the series of events were made more lively than usual.
This morning, I have another way to celebrate independence. I intend to make a cake with independence decorations, red and white accents as the symbol of the Indonesian state, the red and white flag. I spend time in the morning while watching television watching a series of annual independence events broadcast live by many TV stations. I waited for the cake to bake and decorated it with whipped cream that I bought yesterday.
One of the reasons why I wanted to make a bento cake, because the colors of the Indonesian flag, which only uses 2 colors, must be very easy to decorate with minimal skills. I'm not talented enough to make something with a touch of art, especially when it comes to decorating a bento cake. I decided to make an abstract shape with dominant red and white colors.
I made a bento cake with a diameter of 10 cm, using the sponge cake recipe as the main layer. I made the sponge cake dough last night because it took a long time to rest and made the first layer of whipped cream.
I only use whipped cream and coloring, to make it firmer, mix it with cream cheese, but I don't have cream cheese. I put it in the refrigerator for 1 night, in the morning I immediately decorated it by mixing whipped cream with red dye. But to make a deep red color requires a lot of dye drops, but don't worry, I use a dye that is safe to eat.
I slowly spread whipped cream that had been whipped and mixed with coloring, then I took 1 scoop to spread it on top of the spongecake.
I gave a little writing on the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, indicating that this country has been independent for 77 years with gallant and courageous. Becoming a country that has dignity and noble ideals, is independent not only from colonialism, but also free from poverty (my hope). This country is a prosperous country and has a just and prosperous union and unity.
