Kampung Kecil Restaurant, Architecture That Really Describes a Village in Indonesia

IMG_8344.jpeg

Actually, it's been a long time since I wanted to post a story about my experience of stopping at a viral and trending restaurant in my city. I thought I had posted this before last March, but apparently I was wrong. So, only now can I tell you after looking back at some of the photo files on my macbook. A restaurant that simply blows my mind with its amazing concept, menu and various experiences. Come on, see my post until it's finished!

Kampung Kecil, that's the name of this restaurant, the name is quite simple and describes the concept of this restaurant. Before coming, I've been looking for some information related to the restaurant, this is one big restaurant that has many branches, I don't know if this is a branch or a francise. Starting from a walk around the city of Medan, which made me curious in an area called Ngumban Surbakti, there was a big development which was said to be a restaurant a few months ago, but now this restaurant is standing strong and very busy filled with visitors.

I dont know where to start, but luckily when I arrive it wasn't as crowded as people were talking about. Still very quiet, there were only a few visitors at that time, I can choose a place that I like to enjoy the food and vibes of this restaurant.

It seems that first I have to discuss the front of this restaurant, which looks like a tower that I've seen in Garden By The Bay, Singapore, it's similar isn't it? made entirely of bamboo and straw. The specialty of this restaurant clearly illustrates the shape of villages in Indonesia. For example, I remember my Grandfather's house in the village, which still uses bamboo and thatched roofs as the basis for buildings. Even so, this design makes it different from other restaurants. Impressed cheap, but this is certainly not cheap.

While waiting for the waiters to arrive, I took a walk while exploring the architecture and design of this restaurant, it's really very unique, I even thought that in the city of Medan this is the first and the only one with a concept like this. Describes a small village, just like the name. So, this is a way for people who are in the city, to feel the atmosphere of the village while eating and drinking, whether it's with friends, family or those closest to them.

Once inside we will be greet warmly by several people on duty, then we will be direct to the seat we want if it is still very available. Then I was give a menu book, a piece of paper and also a pen, then I had to write my order on the paper and immediately put it on the counter and then pay for all my orders. Almost the same as a fast food restaurant, which is not complicated in the payment process.

Well, I chose a unique place, very similar to a bird cage. It's so unique, I feel like I'm in a different place, much different from some similar restaurants. Not only that, what was different, around me was a pond that was filled with water and also a fountain that emitted gurgling water, the sound faintly sounded like the ASMR that I usually hear when I sleep on Youtube. This fountain turns out to have an important role in this restaurant as a 'calming down' when the sound is crowded which can be imagined when the restaurant is full and crowded.

I also focused on an interesting design from the TEGEL floor they used on one of the tables. So, I just saw some content on one of the social media that talked about making Tegel floors which were said to be expensive, because they were made by hand without using iron, which they said this floor would emit cold air. Likewise with the unique patterns and designs, have unique colors and interesting characteristics. Making this Tegel floor is one of the floors that has an expensive price because it is made as a work. I thought about making the floor of my house from Tegel ceramics, but when I saw the price I backed down slowly LOL.

There are several different sides to this restaurant, you can choose what you want to enjoy the vibes of this restaurant. One example besides the bird's nest above, there is also a unique Joglo. As you know, JOGLO is a traditional Javanese house that stands from 4 supporting pillars, and also has a roof and floor made of wood. Here, there are several joglos whose views also directly see the rice fields and outside areas which are very beautiful and have a natural atmosphere. Likewise, there is a pond containing several koi fish of various colors, making it feel like you don't want to go home. A gentle breeze gently fanning the face, which will make me sleepy after eating.

So, Kampung Kecil Restaurant can be the right choice for you who want home cooked food and a village atmosphere. This restaurant is really valuable, it can be a tourist destination if you want to bring your family just for a walk not far from home and the city, but you can get a very valuable experience.

See you the next time hive friends!

Yas, I also didn't think that you could build a big restaurant using bamboo :)

Hi @aswita, this design is amazing, I didn't know that bamboo logs were so strong and malleable to support the weight of the structure, the place looks cozy and fresh, the details of the slabs are very beautiful, definitely a ligar worth visiting.

Happy weekend!

Isn't bamboo really strong? maybe they chose the best bamboo and also there are other foundations that I don't know, because it is very closed and only see some bamboo and straw. really brilliant isn't it?
