If asked to me, what film represents hard work, I will answer a film adapted from a novel by Andrea Hirata entitled, “Laskar Pelangi”. This film is a film that successfully made my tears fall endlessly. Having a lot of life values presented very deeply, was an extraordinary work at that time.

This film has been on the screen for a long time, in 2008. I remember when I was in high school and watched it with my friends. Because I was curious, I read the novel in the future. This film was able to make me more excited to go to school and pursue my dreams.

Just a synopsis, this film tells the story of a dream of 10 children who attend one of the "very inappropriate" schools because their school permit was almost revoked because almost no students wanted to go to school there. The school was very poor, and only poor children wanted to go to school there. Long story short, they are finally able to maintain the old school and learn with their limitations.

However, even though their school has very poor facilities, it does not make them despair and instead develops well. At that time, their school participated in a carnival competition and finally won 1st place, as well as participating in a quiz competition which won the main prize because of Lintang's talent.

They go through many difficult times in school life, especially when their school finally has to be shaken because of the death of Pak Harun (the principal) which makes them discouraged. Then Ikal and Lintang tried to get their friends to finally want to go to school again.

One of the touching scenes is when Lintang finally dropped out of school because her parents died, she had to make a living for her younger siblings. He forgot all his dreams to pursue Education and his goals, ending so tragically. Cultivating dreams for the sake of loved ones.

Why I like the movie 'Laskar Pelangi':

This film is able to present the contents of the novel in accordance with the film. Describing the hard work of Lintang, Ikal, Harun, Mahar and a herd of Rainbow Troops, although in the end, Lintang becomes a victim of the hardships of life. In this film, it is able to make us moved to rise from adversity. In the end, it is the dream that must be one of the factors for us to grow. Having a dream is a gift and make that dream come true.

Like Ikal who finally got his dream to the city of Paris, France. Where as a child he wanted to go to Paris as one of his dreams, and in the end he got a scholarship to Paris to continue his studies at the University.
Even though in the end Lintang gave up on her failure to attend school, she was able to inspire enthusiasm for learning in her children and send her children to proper schools. Likewise with 8 other laskar pelangi children. Who made his dream come true.

There are so many good values that this film is able to present and it becomes full of meaning in life with many dreams.

This film was able to make me shed tears and re-enlightened to go to school at that time. Why am I not excited to achieve my dream, even though it feels like the lives of the Laskar Pelangi children are sadder than mine? They have to go to school with inadequate classrooms, even if strong winds come, their school may collapse.

See you the next time hive friends!

Reading the short review already had me tearing up at how the kid had to drop out of school due to lack of finances. That can be so heartbreaking and the fact that he had to cater for his younger siblings makes me even more emotional. I'd love to see this one too. Thanks for sharing

In fact, the child suffered even more. In the novel, the child is even poorer than he is told in the movie.

And you know, movies and novels are true stories of Ikal as a member of Laskar Pelangi who got a bad education in his village at that time.

That's really sad. I love novels and films that are based on true life stories though. Even if sometimes they're always making one emotional.

Schools should have adequate facilities for education in order to have a good future. Unfortunately, poverty and inequality in education are obstacles for disadvantaged children.
