The Best Nasi Dalca in Penang - Nasi Dalca Rahim Street Food

The tongue will never lie, even if it's about the taste of food that will make you lulled.

What would you think about Pulau Pinang? Called Penang, a small island in Malaysia. This island is truly a cheap tourist destination for people living on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. Do you know why? Because the distance is close and plane tickets are very cheap.

Starting from just looking for a plane ticket to go to Penang, I managed to get a ticket for $3. One thought I had was that I wanted to go on a culinary tour there and look for food that I had never eaten. The goal is simple, because holidays are not about spending money on shopping, but having a trip with experiences.

But, bad luck happened at that time. I got lost, took the bus from the airport to the hotel, but I ended up going to the wrong destination. Fortunately, this city is very small, you can just go around this city for a day by bicycle. So, because the point I was at to get to the hotel could be reached on foot for 20 minutes, so I tried to strengthen my legs while seeing this city from a different POV. Feel like a local resident carrying a fairly heavy backpack.

The Small Alley, Queen Street, Penang

In the middle of the road, I found a small alley which was very busy with lots of people. In this alley there were also lots of people sitting relaxed at several street food stalls. The epic thing is, this city has lots of important spots for local street food. One thing I found was a small stall selling Indian food, 'Nasi Dalca Rahim'.

Located in front of the temple like the one in the photo, right on Queen Street, Penang. There are two Nasi Dalca Rahim stalls facing each other, so it's not far from the crossroads. I sat while waiting for my food to be prepared. Ordered mutton dalca rice which was prepared in no time. I got 2 plates containing full of basmati rice with a small plate of mutton karee.

By pouring the mutton curry over the basmati rice and then stirring it well, the taste is so unique, full of spices that hit my tongue. I thought it seemed spicy, because the curry was red, but it wasn't as spicy as imagined. It tastes thick because there is a very absolute blend of coconut milk. Getting one piece of mutton that is quite thick and large is enough to increase your protein intake which is very tasty and also different from usual.

I took a photo while glancing at the camera, and I just realized that someone seemed to be aware of my camera and he was probably wondering why I was doing it. I seemed to be in sharp contrast to the others, perhaps because I looked like a tourist.

The Slogan Of Nasi Dalca Rahim

Nasi Dalca Rahim, with their slogan 'The Best Nasi Dalca in Penang (since 1948)' they are very confident. But, it really tastes really good! With a very cheap price, 9.50 rm, around 2 usd, this is already very cheap. Got chunks of muttn in curry sauce and lots of rice. I even asked for the rest of my rice to be wrapped so I could take it home to the hotel and eat it at night.

I think an afternoon in Penang city is worth walking around and getting some interesting food. One of the most memorable tours was where I could walk in the middle of a beautiful purple twilight. In this small town, it has quite a 'heritage'. A city you must try to enjoy a plate of dalca rice.

See you the next time hive friends!
