Reviewing the saga of the most famous spy in the world - James Bond 007: Dr. No

A few days ago I was wandering around You Tube when I came across the final trailer for James Bond 007: No Time To Die and I have to admit that the movie looks pretty good but that's not the case. The thing is that it came to my mind the memory I have of when I saw Skyfall, I saw it about eight times I really liked that movie, and I thought: "Why not see the whole 007 saga" and well one thing came to another and here I am reviewing the first movie of the so famous 007.
James Bond 007: Dr. No was released in 1962 and I will not buy it with a film of today because I simply think it would be impossible, its effects are not even dreaming is at the height of a production of today, their choreographies of fights are not so spectacular and the shooting scenes are normal, something of the time. This film places Bond on a mission to find out the murder of a British special agent and his secretary in Jamaica, upon arrival Bond will have to solve the case and deal with a slightly larger threat. A scientist named Dr. No plans to divert the trajectory of some rockets at Cape Canaveral.
The movie has everything we could consider cliché nowadays, a super trained secret agent, a damsel in distress and a villain to defeat, a perfect combination of cliché element but I have to admit that it managed to surprise me in some occasions. To be honest I wasn't expecting much from this movie, I mean a '62 movie in the eyes of a person who hasn't seen movies that have been released beyond the 80's, yes it had it tough but it managed to pass the test.
I'm not going to say the movie is a roller coaster of emotions but I'm not going to say it's bad either, the movie starts out interesting enough to keep my attention, after all I've always liked this type of plot, but as it goes on I felt that its level was going up and down. At one part I was falling asleep and I don't blame the movie for that but I will say that my intrigue for the movie was waning a bit as we got closer to the end.
The film surprised me in some moments, three in specific, the first at the beginning when they kill Strangways, calm at this point I do not think anything I say is spoiler, I did not think he would kill someone so fast, the second when Bond is sleeping when a spider walks on him and then kills her by synchronizing the music with the blows he gives to the spider, and then the moment that I least expected, few films have taught me to be surprised by the death of a character and this one managed to do it; the shootout that Bond and Quarrel have against the "Dragon" (just a kind of mini tank shaped like a dragon but in a movie of the 60's), I did not think that Quarrel was going to die and even less in the way he did it really surprised me a lot.
As you can imagine the movie is the most cliché, Bond arrives in Jamaica and already someone wants to kill him, manages to survive, meets the characters of the plot, makes investigations, someone wants to kill him again, meets some women (you know what I mean), and so on throughout the film until the end where he meets the villain and we have to change the formula. He is captured by the bad guys, you know the plans, he manages to escape, he defeats the villain, saves the damsel in distress and they escape from the place where they were imprisoned. I know that in the reality we are living in, almost any story we see is going to seem cliché because we have already seen almost everything, but it doesn't hurt to just watch a movie and that's it.
It also has its bad things, I'm not going to focus on criticizing the effects, the pacing or the implausible fantasy of the film because it would be very unfair of me given the years it has over the shoulder but I can't let it overlook the conveniences and some misused characters. Not that I'm an expert in writing screenplays but the person who takes some pictures of Bond at certain moments of the movie is as unnecessary as putting out fire with more fire, unless she works for Dr. No I don't see much excuse to put her there but well, it's not my movie. Another thing, but here I think they are things that I look at, Bond's chase on the mountain was kind of weird, first how is it possible that he could have passed under that machine and not destroy the car and second as the fire of the car that fell down the ravine did not affect the trees that were around.
James Bond 007: Dr. No it is not good enough to entertain, maybe the most veterans in this and those who saw it at the time or a little later will riddle me but I do not recommend the film for young people, it hurts me to say it but that's what I think, the years took their toll on this production and it shows. In my case because I want to see them all but even my friends told me that they did not support what I was going to do; to see these movies from the first one you have to be very convinced and not fall asleep in the attempt. I invite you, like me, to see the 007 saga or any other saga you want, I don't think it's a waste of time and so some of you remember the movies you once saw growing up.

Hace unos días estaba vagando por You Tube cuando me encontré con el tráiler final de James Bond 007: No Time To Die y tengo que admitir que la película tiene muy buena pinta pero ese no es el caso. La cuestión es que me vino a la mente el recuerdo que tengo de cuando vi Skyfall, la vi como una ocho veces me gustó mucho esa película, y pensé: “Por qué no ver la saga completa de 007” y bueno una cosa llego a la otra y aquí estoy reseñando la primera película del tan famoso 007.
James Bond 007: Dr. No se estrenó en 1962 y no pienso comprarla con una película de la actualidad porque simplemente pienso que sería imposible, su efectos ni soñando está a la altura de una producción de hoy en día, sus coreografías de peleas tampoco son tan espectaculares y las escenas de disparos son normales, algo de época. Esta película coloca a Bond en una misión para averiguar el asesinato de un agente especial británico y su secretaria en Jamaica, al llegar Bond tendrá que resolver el caso y lidiar con una amenaza un poco mayor. Un científico llamado el Dr. No planea desviar la trayectoria de unos cohetes en Cabo Cañaveral.
La película cuenta con todo lo que podríamos considerar cliché en la actualidad, un agente secreto súper entrenado, una damisela en apuros y un villano al que derrotar, una combinación perfecta de elemento cliché pero tengo que admitir que logró sorprenderme en algunas ocasiones. Para ser sincero no me esperaba mucho de esta película, es decir, una película del 62 ante los ojos de una persona que no ha visto películas que se hayan estrenado más allá de los 80’s, sí que la tenía difícil pero logró pasar la prueba.
No voy a decir que la película es una montaña rusa de emociones pero tampoco les voy a decir que está mal, la película empieza lo bastante interesante como para mantener mi atención, después de todo este tipo de tramas siempre me han gustado, pero a medida que avanza sentí que su nivel iba subiendo y bajando. En una parte me estaba durmiendo y no culpo a la película por eso pero sí digo que mi intriga por la película iba disminuyendo un poco conforme nos acercábamos al final.
La película me sorprendió en algunos momentos, tres en específico, el primero al principio cuando asesinan a Strangways, tranquilos a estas alturas no creo nada de lo que diga sea spoiler, no creía que iba a asesinar a alguien tan rápido, el segundo cuando es cuando Bond está durmiendo una araña le camina encima y luego la mata sincronizando la música con los golpes que le da a la araña, y luego el momento que menos me esperaba, pocas películas me han enseño sorprenderme por la muerte de un personaje y esta logro hacerlo; el tiroteo que tienen Bond y Quarrel contra el “Dragón” (simplemente una especie de mini tanque con forma de dragón pero en una película de los 60’s), no pensé que Quarrel iba a morir y meno de la forma en la que lo hizo de verdad me sorprendió bastante.
Como se pueden imaginar la película es lo más cliché, Bond llega a Jamaica y ya alguien lo quiere matar, logra sobrevivir, conoce a los personajes de la trama, hace investigaciones, alguien lo quiere matar de nuevo, conoce a algunas mujeres (ustedes saben a lo que me refiero), y así por toda la película hasta parte final donde se topa con el villano y tenemos que cambiar de formula. Es capturado por los malos, conoces los planos, logra escapar, vence al villano, salva a la damisela en apuros y escapan del lugar en el que estaban prisioneros. Sé que en la realidad que estamos viviendo ya casi cualquier historia que veamos nos va a parecer cliché porque ya lo hemos visto casi todo pero no viene mal solo ver una película y ya.
También tiene sus cosas malas, no me voy a centrar en criticar los efectos, el ritmo o la fantasía inverosímil de la película porque sería muy injusto de mi parte dado los años que tiene sobre el hombro pero no le puedo dejar pasar por alto las conveniencias y algunos personajes mal usados. No es que sea un experto en escribir guiones pero la persona que le tomas algunas fotos a Bond en ciertos momentos de la película es tan innecesaria como apagar el fuego con más fuego, a menos que trabaje para el Dr. No no le veo mucha excusa para colocarla ahí pero bueno, no es mi película. Otra cosa, pero aquí sí creo que ya son cosas en la que yo me fijo, la persecución de Bond en la montaña estuvo medio rara, primero como es posible que haya podido pasar por debajo de esa maquino y no destruir el carro y segundo como el fuego del carro que cayó por el barranco no afecto a los árboles que estaban alrededor.
James Bond 007: Dr. No es lo suficientemente buena como para entretener, tal vez los más veteranos en esto y los que la vieron en su momento o un poco después me acribillen pero no recomiendo la película para personas jóvenes, me duele decirlo pero eso es lo que creo, los años le pasaron factura a esta producción y se nota. En mi caso porque quiero verlas todas pero hasta mis amigos me dijeron que no me apoyaban lo que iba hacer; para ver estas películas desde la primera tienes que estar muy convenció y no dormirte en el intento. Les invito, al igual que yo, ver la saga de 007 o cualquier otra saga que quieran, no creo que sea una pérdida de tiempo y así algunos recuerdan las películas que algunas vez vieron mientras crecían.
