Robin Hood, this historical character owner of a few literary works has been on the big screen on more than one occasion, sometimes good and sometimes not so good, but this time I'm not just here to give my opinion about the movie but rather to do something a little different and try to find an explanation why I see this movie differently when it is as normal as any other adaptation with modern dyes. Robin Hood of 2018 is not the eighth wonder but it is worth seeing a bit of what this movie is made of, and also if it is worth you taking a bit of your time to watch it.
Okay, this is not an innovation or anything like that, it follows the typical stereotype of modernizing a story, making it cooler and giving a good mentor to the protagonist who for some reason decides to go on a crusade without necessarily doing good or evil but what he thinks is right. As it happened with King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, a modernization of the story is not bad at all, it gives a different touch to the usual but not knowing how to do it in a good way can hurt things and I'm not saying it was a bad movie but it has its things.
This time we are introduced to Robin Hood as Robin Loxley, a nobleman who is sent to war so that the Sheriff can steal his fortune and accumulate it with bad intentions, upon returning from the war Loxley learns that he is dead, supposedly, and with nothing but is followed by an enemy soldier who will end up becoming his mentor to create the famous story of Robin Hood who on this occasion is known as the Hood, so simply the Hood. Obviously the movie has its pros and cons but it has something in particular that makes me enjoy it when I watch it.
The story is simple, a nobleman who is stripped of his wealth, an expert who will become the protagonist's mentor, the protagonist's girlfriend, the villain with ambitions who steals the town's money and a second one who will become the new villain sooner or later, sometimes sooner rather than later. In itself the movie is not bad, after all it entertains, at least to me, but you are not missing much if you don't see it. It can pass under your eyes, even if it is a bit noticeable, but you can do it without any problem.
The setting looks a little weird, not completely but a little. More than anything else, it's the costumes of the main characters, they are like a modernized medieval style, something like that, but if it fits well with the rest, it just takes me out a little bit when I pay special attention to the details. It has a good rhythm, I would like to tell you wholeheartedly that it is slow in some parts but it is not, only at the beginning but the rest goes at a good pace.
I've already seen this movie more than four times and I still can't find a possible logic as to why it doesn't bore me, it just doesn't. It's not the eighth wonder of the world, nor is it a super original and innovative adaptation, it just has something that makes it special for me; I know I may contradict myself a bit but that's what I think about this movie. The action scenes are good and showy, especially the archery confrontations between Robin and the guards, the special effects are noticeable but can be forgiven since it is not a high cost production, let's say it adapts to what it has.
As outstanding performances we can mention those of Jaime Fox and Taron Egerton, not because they are the protagonists or anything like that, but they are the most outstanding performances in the film; I could also name the Seriff of Nottingham played by Ben Mendelsohn since his interpretation as a villain is good but the way he was used is half-hearted. But the character I got the most useless was the voice of the people Will Tillman, which I can't quite explain if it was that he was in a place similar to Robin's property or what, but that's the least of it.
I recommend Robin Hood, the answer is yes, but you're not missing much if you pass it up. It doesn't really influence much, it's fun yes, with modern overtones in a medieval setting, the occasional gag action that never hurts, action scenes that are good and last but not least, Jamie Fox. If you like Jamie Fox and Taron Egerton, see Robin Hood but if you don't you can skip it and you won't miss much. See you next time.

Robin Hood, este histórico personaje dueño de unas cuantas obras literarias ha estado en la pantalla grande en más de una ocasión, unas veces buenas y otra no tanto, pero en esta ocasión no solo vengo a dar mi opinión sobre la película sino más bien hacer algo un tanto distinto y tratar de encontrar una explicación al por qué veo esta película de forma diferente cuando es tan normal como cualquier otra adaptación con tintes modernos. Robin Hood de 2018 no es la octava maravilla pero vale la pena ver un poco de que está hecha esta película, y también si vale la pena que ustedes se tomen un poco de su tiempo para verla.
Muy bien, esto no es una innovación ni nada por el estilo, sigue el típico estereotipo de modernizar una historia, hacerla más cool y darle un buen mentor a protagonista que por alguna razón decide realizar una cruzada sin hacer el bien o el mal necesariamente sino lo que cree que es correcto. Tal como pasó con King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, una modernización de la historia no está nada mal, le un toque diferente a lo acostumbrado pero no saber hacerlo de buen manera puede perjudicar las cosas y no estoy diciendo que haya sido mala película pero tiene sus cosas.
En esta ocasión nos presentan a Robin Hood como Robin Loxley, un noble que es enviado a la guerra para que el Sheriff pueda robar su fortuna y acumularla con mala intenciones, al volver de la guerra Loxley se entera de que está muerto, supuestamente, y sin nada pero es seguido por un soldado enemigo que terminará convirtiéndose en su mentor para crear la famosa historia de Robin Hood que en esta ocasión lo conocen el Hood, así simplemente el Hood. Obviamente la película tiene sus pros y sus contras pero tiene algo en particular que hace que la disfrute cunado la veo.
La historia es simple, un noble que es despojado de sus riquezas, alguien experto que se convertirá en mentor del protagonista, la novia del protagonista, el villano con ambiciones que roba el dinero del pueblo y un segundo que se convertirá en el nuevo villano tarde o temprano, en ocasión más tarde que temprano. En sí la película no es mala, al fin y al cabo entretiene, por lo menos a mí, pero tampoco se pierden de mucho si no la ven. Puede pasar por debajo de su vista, aunque se note un poco, pero puede hacerlo sin ningún problema.
La ambientación se ve hizo un poco rara, no completamente pero sí un poco. Más que cualquier otra cosa, es vestuario de los protagonista, son como un estilo medieval modernizado, algo así por el estilo, pero si queda bien con lo demás, solo que me saca un poco onda cuando presto especial atención en los detalles. Tiene un buen ritmo, me gustaría decirles de todo corazón que se hace lenta el alguna parte pero no es así, solo al principio pero lo demás va a buen tiempo.
Ya he visto esta película como más de cuatro veces y todavía no encuentro una posible lógica al porque no me aburre, simplemente es que no lo hace. No es la octava maravilla del mundo, ni es una adaptación súper original e innovadora, solo que tiene algo que la especial para mí; sé que me puedo contradecir un poco pero es lo que pienso acerca de esta película. Las escenas de acción son buenas y vistosas, sobre todo los enfrentamientos con arco entre Robin y los guardias, lo efectos especiales se notan pero pueden ser perdonados ya que no es una producción de alto costo, digamos que se adapta a lo tiene.
Como interpretaciones destacables se pueden mencionar las de Jaime Fox y Taron Egerton, no es porque sean los protagonistas ni nada por el estilo, sino que son las interpretaciones más resaltantes en la película; también podría nombrar al Seriff de Nottingham interpretado por Ben Mendelsohn ya que su interpretación como villano es buena pero se queda a medias la forma en la que lo utilizaron. Pero el personaje que más inútil conseguí fue a la voz del pueblo Will Tillman, que no termino de explicarme si fue que estaba en un lugar parecido a la propiedad de Robin o qué, pero eso es lo de menos.
Les recomiendo Robin Hood, la respuesta es sí, pero tampoco se pierden de mucho si la dejan pasar. Realmente no influye mucho, es divertida sí, con tintes modernos en una ambientación medieval, alguna que otra acción a modo de chiste que nunca viene mal, escenas de ación que están buenas y por último pero no menos importante, Jamie Fox. Si les gusta Jamie Fox y Taron Egerton, vean Robin Hood pero si no es caso puede pasar por encima de ella y no se perderán de mucho. Hasta la próxima.
