Friday round up of randomness

What a week! So much to unpack here, I’m not even sure where to start.
For the past 5 years or so, I’ve been taking part in a virtual relay for life event. Now I know, some of you are thinking “that doesn’t count”. I suppose in some ways, it doesn’t. It’s not hours of actual sneakers hit the road walking. You’re right. For most of the 10 or so years I’ve lived in this city, I didn’t even know they held an event here. Never saw it on the news, nor heard about it on the radio. Hell, I’ve been a cancer survivor since the early 2000’s and I’d never heard of one of them either.
So, I had been in this virtual world sort of game for quite awhile when I stumbled, quite accidentally, across a survivors group sponsored/endorsed by ACS or The American Cancer Society. I joined and I found out about the Relay. They set up a track in world and we “walked” I did probably 13 or so hours of that one. The event featured 210 teams and 1129 avatars walking the track. We raised 233,033 US dollars that year. We have increased that number every year. This years total stands currently at $408,252 and will officially stop accepting funds around the 30th. Then we take a small break until our Christmas expo in December. The new relay season will begin again in February. I cannot begin to express what this means to me. As I was on the track that first year, complete strangers lined the track for the Honor Lap. A lap where survivors and caregivers walked alone. People I had never met were cheering me on. It was a very humbling experience. If you’d like to know more, please google relay of life for second life. I can’t possibly cover everything I’d like to in a single blog post.

I don’t recall how long this was, several thousand virtual meters I think.
A final word: If you play in SL, please join us. If not you can make year round donations to ACS # HERE. Thank you

My new phone should be here this weekend. It’s the first one in a long time that I was able to choose. I mean I always pick my phone(except the last one, I couldn’t go to the store for some reason). Usually you get stuck with certain models that are available. This one is the S21. It’s also the first phone in a long time I’ve been excited about. My friend Jimmy has one and the camera looks really good. I hope that’s the case. I will be using this new phone to do street photography and upload to my other blog CaptureMyGreenville. Eventually, that will have its own HIVE account as well. I don’t see any other way to run two different accounts under one hive name. Although, it remains to be seen how well I can effectively keep up with 2 accounts, a blog and a podcast. Nevermind all the social media work in the background. OY VEY! I guess we will see how it goes. Right? Right. Glad you agree.

Speaking of HIVE and all its goodness… I’ve been involved in the VFTLAB Defi farm. It’s similar to other Defi farming in that you stake certain tokens and earn dividends. Currently there are seven coins you can stake and earn VFT tokens
Just a random sampling of my earnings recently.

It’s a great system and while still relatively new, it has amazing potential. Go check it out [here]https://vftlab.finance/.

As always, just my .02¢ worth. YMMV
Keep being awesome and keep stackin
