Ahoy! This Saturday May 21st the monthly Community Day will be taking place. Just like the previous two months and because of the season of Alola, we have an Alolan form of a Pokémon featured. This time it's Alolan Geodude, the Rock Pokémon.

The Community Day will be taking place on May 21st from 11 am through 2 pm local time.

That's earlier than last month, so make sure to pay attention to it! Personally I'm not a fan of the Community Day taking place from 11 am through 2 pm again, because now it's spring here and around noon it could be really hot based on the weather this week. With that in mind, if you'll also have a lot of sun tomorrow make sure to bring something to protect against the sun and bring enough water to keep hydrated!

Shiny Alolan Geodude is not new, but now we'll have a great chance to encounter them. I already had one Shiny Kantonian Geodude and one Shiny Alolan Geodude. Here is a screenshot of my storage with them and the stats for the Alolan.

As usual, quite bad stats 😅 So during the Community Day I hope to catch a higher IV Shiny!

Evolving Alolan Graveler into Golem during the Community Day and up to two hours after will teach it the Fast Attack Rollout. This move is finally making its way into Pokémon GO, so other Pokémon might get it added to their moveset soonish as well.

The main bonus for the Community Day will be 3x Catch Stardust!

A great time to activate Star Pieces. They stack, so if you've activated one you can already activate a 2nd, and more, to make sure you don't forget about it when the first one runs out.

Other bonuses are:

• 2x Catch Candy
• 2x Chance for Geodude Candy XL
• Incense activated during the event will last for 3 hours
• Lures activates during the event will last for 3 hours
• Taking snapshots will have Alolan Geodude show up
• A second Special Trade can be made during or up to 2 hours after the event
• 50% Stardust cost reduction for trades during and up to 2 hours after the event

If enough Pokémon are caught from a single Lure Module, the 3x Catch Stardust will be increased to 4x Catch Stardust for Trainers near the Lured PokéStop. This bonus will stay active for 30 minutes. I'm unsure of how many have to be caught and within which radius the bonus will be active. But if you meet up with several Trainers at the same place, it could definitely be great!

Make sure to Mega Evolve a Rock or Electric-type Pokémon for additional bonuses. Well I'm personally not sure if their bonus to XL Candy stacks with the Community Day bonus, but at the very least the bonus for regular Candy works. Also if you have one of those types at Mega Level 2 the additional XP for catches of those types can add up quite a bit!

Right now you could for example Mega Evolve Ampharos, Manectric or Steelix. I might be forgetting one, but any of those work. I'll likely do Manectric as I have that one in my party for Tapu Fini Raids too, so I can combine both.
