Chaos Legion Earth Upgrades: Summoners and some Core Monsters for max potential in Gold

Ahoy fellow Splinterlands players! In this post I'm showing some cards for the Chaos Legion Earth Element that I recently levelled up to the max of Silver league currently. I often rent some of those cards in Gold Foil because I want to use them in the Brawls too, which is why I didn't really continue levelling them yet. But I do want to of course also own them, especially in case rentals expire etc so I still have them playable. Some of them gain nice additional stats or really good extra abilities so I definitely wanted to make sure I own them as well.
These have been levelled up a while ago, but I kept making videos of other content and didn't write a post about these yet. I didn't do the upgrading in a video this time because for those cards I just levelled them up individually as soon as my bid was able to purchase them. So yeah today I'm deciding to write a post about them.
Commons
I did level one of them today! The Venari Knifer, I just noticed that I did have enough copies to get it to level 5. I don't play it as often but I did see others with good combo's using this card. So it seems quite nice to upgrade it from level 4 to level 5 as it gains an additional health, which in some cases could let it live through an extra attack.
Here is this one at level 5.

For my Common Cards from Chaos Legion Core Earth these are now my levels.

Since I had a bunch I have the Gold Foil Hill Giant at level 5. For Mycelic Morphoid and Venari Scout I'm keeping those at level 4 currently. Although I should probably continue them to level 5 sometime soon since in Gold League they do give me a small penalty for being 1 level under the max. My Goblin Psychic has been at level 5 for a long time already because of that Affliction ability.
Rares
Now for the Summoner Obsidian I have a really old photo. I once made a photo when I had levelled her to level 4 but I don't think I ever made a post of only levelling her up. So I guess I'll use that photo here. But you'll notice that I have more copies of her now.
So I did get her to level 4 long ago to max for Silver League. Since then I already picked up a bunch of extra copies of her and I'm quite close to getting her to level 5. I think once I'll level her to 5 I'll make a video and level some other cards too, perhaps getting those Commons that aren't level 5 yet to level 5 and I suppose it'd be a great idea to look into levelling some Epics further up then too.
Sticking with the Rare Cards from the Core set right now let's see Mycelic Slipspawn. At level 4, the max in Silver League and full earning potential for Gold League, it gains the Forcefield ability. With this ability attacks that deal 5+ damage will only hurt it for 1 health. Combining this with Taunt it can be really great! I often rent this card at Gold Foil level 4 for Brawls but it also often gets cancelled. So it was important to get my own regular foil copy to level 4.
Here it is at level 3 before combining.
Then here it is combined to level 4 with the Forcefield ability added.
Up next is Regal Peryton. This card is a great high speed card with the Flying ability. Allows it to have a great chance dodging attacks. At level 4 it doesn't really improve much it just gets an extra Health compared to level 3. In some cases it could make a difference. Because I tend to play this card regularly in my Earth lineups I did feel it's best to just have it levelled. Since my Modern Ranked battles are all in Gold League it's also important because it needs to be level 4 to prevent getting low card level penalty.
At level 3.
At level 4.
That's currently it for my Rares. I have my Mycelic Infantry Gold Foil level 3 and my regular foil Goblin Tower level 3. They don't improve much at level 4. Of course they do have a small penalty in Gold League when they're level 3. But with my Mycelic Infantry being Gold Foil that bonus kinda counters the low level penalty. Of course I AM planning to level these up further! But I think I'll get the Mycelic Infantry to level 5 once I upgrade Obsidian to level 5 because then it gets the Giant Killer ability.
Epics
Moving on to the Epics.
For now I'm kinda keeping my Hunter Jarx and Acid Shooter at level 2. I don't play them as much as Grund so I guess for now at level 2 they're okay even if they give a small penalty when I play them. I do want to look into levelling them up to 4 (and maybe just skipping level 3 entirely) at some point once I get Obsidian to level 5.
Grund on the other hand I do play more often. So he does seem quite important to have at level 3. Going from level 2 to level 3 his Attack increases by 1. Since he has Double-Strike and attacks twice per round that does make the damage per round increase by 2 due to the two attacks. Definitely a good one to level up. Also he can pair well in an Immortalis Lineup where a fast Monster like Regal Peryton shatters the Armor allowing Grund to do 2 attacks on the frontline health.
At level 2 my Grund had these stats.
Then upgraded to level 3!
That's it for the Epics as I explained at the beginning I won't level up the other 2 right now but will do so later.
Legendaries
Well most of my Legendaries were already level 2 long ago. Queen Mycelia and Iza the Fanged in Regular Foil and the Fungus Fiend in Gold Foil. At some point I already levelled Iza the Fanged to level 3 even! Since I had enough copies to do so, even though I still have to get Obsidian to level 5 to play Iza the Fanged at level 3 but oh well. I'll get that eventually!
The only Legendary that needed upgrading was the Legendary Summoner Immortalis!
Here is a screenshot when I got the 3rd copy of him and had him ready to upgrade.
Then I upgraded him to level 2.
That's an upgrade I was definitely looking forward to! When I had him at level 1 I didn't play him often at all just because I couldn't bring several of my Monsters at their higher levels. Since I upgraded him to level 2 I have already been using him much more often!
That's it for these upgrades!
Here is an overview of my Core Chaos Legion Earth set and their levels now. Here you'll see that I already have a bunch of additional Obsidian copies that I'm almost close enough to get her to level 5 like I mentioned earlier.

That's going to wrap it up for this post!
The next post with upgrades to cards will likely be a video again! I have some cards ready to upgrade to Gold League levels, but there is just one of them that I'm still trying to buy some extra copies of before I can combine them all in a video. That might be my next Splinterlands post then (apart from the weekly Battle Mage Secrets).
Thanks for reading!

Do you like Obsidian Faction most?
Not really the most, but it is high up there. In Wild I have always been a fan of Alric and Magic attackers so yeah that definitely leads to some liking for Obsidian as well. Though the Earth Magic Monsters are in general slower. If we take Wild into account then Alric (and the Water element in general) would still be my favourite. Otherwise for Modern my favourites would be Dragons in general.
What about you?
I haven’t touched Wild monsters much as the monsters are pretty wild. And, I don’t have as many monsters in Wild. In modern, I love Death summoner, their speed and monster abilities are unique and goes with how I play the game.
Yeah that's true! Oh sweet, yeah they have some cool monsters, especially with the debuffs and stuff too. It's really awesome that they suit the way you play the game! 😄

I agree with these cards for "Gold" league a pretty good choice, good content, thanks for sharing.
