Pokémon GO Holidays Recap and Start of New Year event

Ahoy! The Holidays event has ended by now and immediately transitioned into the New Year event due to the endtime. The New Year event will run through January 4th at 8 pm local time.

During the Pokémon GO Holidays event I checked for which ones that were spawning more in the wild I didn't have Lucky yet. So I did get 3 Lucky Vulpix already prior, but euhm I always transferred them cause they had bad IVs. Instead of evolving one 😅 So Ninetales was still not Lucky in my Pokédex. Alolan Vulpix in the wild was a great one to trade for this. With Cryogonal appearing in the wild now I traded for it and got one Lucky after quite some trades.

Then I went to check on Snorunt. Which I didn't have Lucky yet, I clicked on Glalie too and to my big surprise my Pokédex said I've had it Lucky 2 times already 😲 I couldn't remember that, and I guess it happened when Glalie were appearing more in the wild sometime that I traded a bunch.

So as you can see no Lucky Snorunt, but I did have Lucky Glalie. Well that made it easier to trade. Now I could just focus on asking for only female Snorunt, because only the female ones can evolve into Froslass. Now I only had to get one Lucky Snorunt too.

After getting Lucky Crygonocal, I traded for the Vulpix and female Snorunt with friends and also for Vanillite and Bergmite.

I got a Lucky Vanillite, I've never evolved it yet since its Pokémon GO Debut. So here are the Pokédex registries for Lucky Vanillish and Lucky Vanilluxe. I got the Lucky Alolan Vulpix to get Ninetales Lucky in my Pokédex. Snorunt arguably took the longest to get Lucky, but eventually I got one so I could have Lucky Froslass too.

As you can see there is no Bergmite here. That's because every Bergmite that I've mirror traded with friends never became Lucky. It'll be for another time to get that one.

During the event I did one Raid for a Holiday Glaceon to have one of them. Which you can see in this photo.

Not a lot of Shiny encounters. In my blog post about the first week of the event I had the Shiny Holiday Stantler. I finished out the event with a Shiny Holiday Spheal and a Shiny Kyurem.

How did the event go for you?

Happy 2020 from Slowpoke! Wait, no—it’s about to be 2022! The New Year event in Pokémon GO has started and runs through January 4th at 8 pm local time. Many Pokémon with party hats are returning. Slowpoke still has the 2020 glasses and Slowbro the 2021 ones. But we can now evolve this Slowpoke to Slowking as well which will be wearing some 2022 glasses.

One new Pokémon with a party hat showing up this event is Hoothoot. Which can now also be Shiny! Shiny Hoothoot (without a New Year's hat) will of course remain in the game after the event ends. Here's a photo from the Hoothoot with the New Year's Hat.

Event Field Research tasks with encounters:

• Catch 5 Pokémon : New Year's Hat Hoothoot
• Catch 10 Pokémon : Party Hat Bulbasaur, Party Hat Charmander OR Party Hat Squirtle
• Catch 15 Pokémon : 2020 Glasses Slowpoke
• Earn 2 Candies walking with your Buddy : 2020 Glasses Slowpoke

All of the Pokémon appearing right now with Party Hats or New Year Hats can be Shiny. If you want a New Year Hat Pichu you will have to hatch some 7 km Eggs. Which are currently hatching faster as all Eggs Incubated during the event are at 1/2 Hatch Distance.
