Snivy Community Day recap - Snivy in the Sunshine

Yesterday the monthly Community Day took place, featuring Snivy the Grass Snake Pokémon and one of the starter Pokémon first appearing in the Unova region. It's been a really long time since we've had a starter Pokémon featured as the Community Day spawn, so that was a warm welcome. It's most likely going to follow the trend from the past, if it does we'll see Tepig in June and Oshawott in August.

This Community Day had the bonus of 3x Catch Stardust from 11 am through 5 pm local time. One of the bonusses that I love the most. I haven't activated a Star Piece throughout the whole event, but did have some active for at least half of the event.

Evolving Servine into Serperior up to two hours after the event thought it the exclusive Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.

I started playing from home at 11 am, with an Incense active right away for additional and consistent spawns. To chill for a bit and have some proper lunch before I would head out. Before heading out I messaged a friend to see if he was already walking around, which he was together with another friend. I met up with them after heading outside and we walked around for the whole event.

There were quite some PokéStops that gave a Snivy encounter as a reward, which is great, I mostly completed those. But I did also complete some that rewarded Great Balls, Ultra Balls or 500 Stardust. Sometimes I would get tasks for Pinap Berries as a reward, most of the time I discarded those.

While still at home I was already able to encounter my first Shiny Snivy. The majority of the ones that I caught were encountered after going outside. I caught 18 Shiny Snivy in total. You can see them in this picture. One of them in the picture is already evolved into Servine as I had to evolve 3 Snivy to progress in the Snivy in the Sunshine Special Research. The Snivy that's favourited is one from a Research encounter, which I immediately favourited as it could end up being my highest IV Shiny.

Once the event was over I decided to evolve my best Shiny Snivy into Servine too, and then evolve it further into Serperior to get Serperior registered in the Pokédex. I didn't have Servine yet either, which is why I chose to evolve a Shiny Snivy during the Special Research. That way I could have Shiny Servine and Shiny Serperior Pokédex registry screenshots.

We always get a few encounters of the featured spawn in the Community Day Special Research, including one of both the evolutions. When I got my Servine encounter in the 2nd part of the Special Research, I actually received a 100% IV from it! I'll show it later as its evolution. I remembered to take a screenshot of my Pokédex stats in the early beginning of the event and I took one afterwards too. That way we can see how many Snivy I caught and how many ran away. I did also do my 100 trades with a friend throughout and after the event. Those 100 are included in the caught number shown in the Pokédex. I kinda wish they'd display separately to be honest.

Here you can see the Serperior I had after the event. Starting off with the Shiny Serperior that I evolved first for the Pokédex registry. Then the Serperior from the Special Research. After completing the Special Research I immediately evolved the 100% IV Servine that I got as an encounter reward, and you can see it as Serperior here. From trading with a friend I got a total of 6 Lucky Snivy. I evolved the one of them to have Servine and Serperior Lucky in the Pokédex too. I'll most likely transfer it, as its stats aren't as good.

The event went really well for me as I got a 100% IV. I'm still going to sort through my Shiny Snivy and transfer most of the worst IVs. It was pleasant weather so that was a great plus. Unfortunately no weather boosted Snivy in the game, it would've been a wonderful combo with that 3x Catch Stardust. Perhaps next time we have a 3x Catch Stardust bonus it'll be the case!
