Contentment is key but not complacency

Contentment is key! But not complacency

Let’s talk about contentment and complacency because some tend to misinterpret the two and what they entail.

First of all, what is contentment?

Contentment can be considered as a state of being satisfied and okay with what you have, it can be after achieving a goal or getting something you’ve always wanted, like having peace of mind. And when you are contented, you feel at ease in both your body and mind.

And the only way for this to happen is by doing something that gives you joy, no matter how little it is because even little things that we consider that don’t matter, actually matters.

One question everyone has to answer is, do you know what makes you happy? Because if we do know, it will be best we hold on to that thing or person too.
To have contentment all you have to do is be disciplined, live in the moment, be happy for others and avoid envy and we should always show gratitude, be grateful in whatever thing we do.

Now, what is complacency?
This is more or less the opposite of contentment where one is satisfied with his/her achievements and not bothered about going forward or improving on any other thing but just okay with the present situation.

In summary, contentment is being happy and satisfied with your achievement of goals. While complacency is being in a position where you are neither satisfied nor happy, but also refusing to do anything about it to move from that situation.

Now imagine being in an office position for 3 years and your salary isn’t okay anymore because of the high cost of living now, and you aren’t happy about it. So instead of you addressing the issue for an increment of salary you just stay unbothered like you are just okay with what you are getting.
