Is Payment For Assassinations' Now Added As a Use Case For Bitcoin?

Since the creation of Bitcoin the use case was mainly for smart contracts, crypto banking, on-chain governance and asset tokenization etc. However, there are people who are willing to take the use case of Bitcoin to another level and they’ve decided to use it as payment for assassinations. If it was payment for pizza, coffee or other properties we would understand because it’s normal but assassinations?

40 years old Jessica Sledge was recently arrested for hiring an assassin to assassinate someone paid using Bitcoin worth $10,000 and unknowing to her the assassin/hit man was an undercover cop who has been disguising to catch people hiring assassins to kill people. The conversations and arrangements were all done using WhatsApp where she shared the victim’s details and also gave descriptions using voice notes.

However, the person to be assassinated was already placed under watch by the FBI in case there was an attempt by someone else and the undercover cop played along sending the pictures of the victim for confirmation to Jessica Sledge. When the details and victim have been confirmed, she was tricked to make the balance payment with cash in Mississippi where she travelled and was apprehended by the FBI.

The court has now sentenced her to 10 years in prison for attempted murder and she was also fined $1,000. Well, she’s not the first person to use Bitcoin as payment for assassination, there have been other cases of people hiring assassins with it to kill people they don’t like or want to get rid of.
