Due to the desire I've had to weave things bigger than the things I've woven so far, I decided to make a table loom, I got the idea from Pinterest and with this new loom I can weave a little more than 100 lines. Today I present you one made at home with the help of @alexespirale, a good friend who had the necessary tools to make the adjustments of the materials we need for the construction of this loom.

Making it has taken me more time than I thought, it turns out that the model I wanted to copy needed more work than I thought just by looking at the image, we had to make some cuts and ask for some materials that Alex was able to get me too, I can tell you that it is ready but the truth is that after doing it I am sure that there were some simpler ways to make something functional and simpler, perhaps for those who want to start making simpler things and with simpler objects to get at home, and that idea if I will give it soon surely when I get a good plank of wood to cut the bases .... In the meantime, here I leave you this first attempt at a homemade loom.

Design and construction process

To start making a loom the first thing to think about is the use you want to give it to determine what material, shape and size it should have. When I thought of a new loom I imagined that it would be a little wider than the previous one to slightly increase the size of my pieces, I also thought that I was going to use it only at home, preferably on the table of the workshop that I will have to work. With this idea in mind was that I began the search of models that I liked and I found a relatively simple but perfect one that covered the needs that I had. When I defined the model I told Alex about it and he told me that he would get to work to get the materials.

The first thing we got was the plank and with it we began to draw the shape that we were going to give to the loom, as we did not have exact measurements, we just marked and tested with a cut to see if the electric jigsaw worked, since we did not have sandpaper or anything more precise to cut the wood we had to go as close to the mark as we could, for this reason perhaps you can see that the two cuts are slightly different. The correct way to cut them would be to mark the shape and put the two planks one on top of the other, holding them together with a press or something to keep them together so we could cut them with the same shape.

The next thing was to buy some threads, the truth is I do not know what name has this threaded steel, but they sold us a meter of tube to screw that we would use, some to make the tension rods for the threads and others as guides that go on top to separate the same threads by rows. We cut these bars in 4 parts of 20cm each and at one end we put a fixed nut and at the other end a threaded butterfly so that it is possible to adjust the measures.

Finally Alex got a couple of small trunks that would simulate those of the model we were copying, drilled them and gave them some shape with a drill bit so that the threaded tubes would pass through them and thus use it as a support for the bracelets.

Once we got the necessary parts and adjusted the loom, all that was left for me to do was to assemble it when I got home.

And this is how it looks assembled and ready to start knitting...

Hi, well if you want to learn you can go to one of my previous posts, there I show step by step how to make beaded bracelets, you can also see clearly how to use the loom.
