Home Cooked Meals, All The Way

Food is the most important thing we need to stay alive. If you don't eat, I don't know how possible it is for one to be alive. The process of cooking or not depends on what you like and as they say, one man's meal is poison to another man. Some people can cook a good meal and some can't. It's either they are too lazy to do their cooking or because they don't just like the activities involved in the kitchen. Either you are able to cook or not, you must eat!

My love for good food is something that drives me to learn how to prepare various types of dishes, from the east to the south to the north. Most of the dishes I love, I learn how to prepare them except for very few that I haven't learnt yet like Nkwobi a delicacy from the eastern part of Nigeria. As you know, Africa is rich in various mouth watering delicacies. I don't just eat anything edible, but tasty and nutritious meals.

I cook ninety five percent of my meals myself because I prefer it to takeouts. Apart from the fact that I love to try out something new in the kitchen, it's also economical to prepare my own meals. The amount of money spent on home cooked meals is considerably lesser than the amount you spend on takeout. The remaining five percent that I do takeouts is only when I'm very hungry and far away from home, during a family outing, or when I'm invited for a treat by friends or my husband.

When it's lunch time, and my stomach is rumbling, I walk majestically into my kitchen to prepare my meal as I usually do. I always make preparations for this by stocking my kitchen with food stuff to the tiniest ingredient every month, and loading as much food as I want into my refrigerator for emergencies.
I am never caught unprepared.

My forever goal is to live healthy and eating out all the time is not healthy for me or anyone. I discovered that most of these eateries put too much seasonings in their foods just to make it delicious thereby making one eat chemicals that is not beneficial to the body which later causes cancer and the likes. I try to prevent eating out at all cost by packing my lunch to work everyday.

Although, takeouts is not stressful and time consuming as home made food, I would still pick the opinion of home cooked meals always to takeouts for, it's pocket friendly and healthier always.

This is my response to Hive Ghana community weekly prompt, on the topic: Home Cooked vs Takeouts.

Thanks sis for this wonderful act of yours, I'm impressed. Takeout food cost more and it isn't satisfactory, I'm also a lover of home made food, I hardly eat out except on rare occasions

I prefer home-cooked meals to eating out. During my senior year in high school, I would bring homemade meals even though I was constantly teased about it. I mean, who wouldn't love a well-prepared meal? Even when I enrolled to learn a skill, I still brought my lunch from home. I became known for my enormous food flask.
