I DIDN'T KNOW IT IS THIS BAD!

I didn't know it is this bad! I felt so sad, helpless and weak today.

I was preparing breakfast for my kids this morning when my gas finished. I had to go to my neighbor to complete the process which took about 10 minutes.
I got to work and we heard there was a riot in the market because of the new note wahala. Infact, the day was full of drama from parents
we close earlier than expected because of that.

I got home and decided to go and fill my gas.I rested a bit and took my cylinder out. I got to the gas station and the gate was locked I asked around but everyone I saw seem clueless.I moved forward and started looking for where to fill the gas but every where I went to was locked as well.I kept asking but everywhere I got to,I met a closed gate. Then I realized it could be as a result of the riot in town that morning.
Mind you,I had just ₦500 with me with my ATM card with the hope that I would pay for the gas with a POS machine and if there is no POS machine I would do a transfer to the vendor.

While searching and asking people where I could fill the gas,I met two children in uniform without school bags between the ages of 8 and 10.One of them approached me and said "Mummy, please, can you help me change this ₦500" he had the old ₦500 note with him opening it for me to see it.i I explained to him that the note is no longer acceptable that there is a new one that is in use. He answered with tears in his eyes "I and my brother are hungry and they didn't accept it from us where we went to buy something”.

This really broke my heart. I was speechless I didn't know how to make the children feel better. With just ₦500 no gas yet and that means I can't cook if I don't get gas and here are hungry children in front of me.
Just beside us is a shop that sells snacks. I bought biscuits for them and told them to manage it and wait for their dad to get back. They thanked me happily and showed me where they live and I watched them walk in. I was happy to see them smile.

I started going back home and on my way I bought charcoal ₦200. Without eating all through the day,I got home feeling very tired. I couldn't even use the charcoal to cook my rice because I had no strength in me anymore. I just bought biscuits with the remaining ₦200 with me, made hot chocolate and eat with my kids with the hope that tomorrow will be nice.

Thanks for reading

This was just really sad... I can just imagine how those children felt. I actually cried two weeks ago because I was really hungry, with no cash at hand and no one money anywhere to withdraw.
Thank you for being a beautiful soul❤️

It is definitely appalling how the corrupt and heartless people in the government and banking industries would do something as ridiculous as forcing different tenders and trying to push a cashless society. Children suffering as a result of this are one of the worst outcomes and I'm hoping that some justice will be served for such a foolish move. This was, in my opinion, completely unnecessary and at the wrong time, with there already being lots of challenges globally, introducing such a foolish change like this was in very poor practice.
