Can someone help me to tell women to value their lives!
In this part of the world where I come from (Nigeria), women are considered 'common' in every aspect of life. Relegated, disrespected and blamed for every misfortune.

After marriage, if the husband improves financially, they call him a real man but when it's the other way round, they say the wife has a bad luck.(that her leg is not good)
When they are trying to have a child, no one blames the man, they consider the woman barren which medically could be the man's fault.
When they have female children and no male child yet, they blame the woman and in some culture, both the woman and her daughters have no inheritance if the man dies. They are deprived of everything the man owns when he was alive claiming he doesn't have a heir. Please, medically, is it a man or a woman that produce the Y chromosome?

No matter what you do as a woman, no matter how hard you try here, you will still be called a common woman.

She works 9-5,prepared the meals both breakfast and lunch as early as 4 to 5am, prepare the children for school, make sure they eat breakfast and pack their lunch. In most cases, takes the children to school before going to work. After a hectic day at work, she goes to pick up the kids from school, take them home, help them with their assignment while preparing dinner. She serve their food and allow them some time to relax before preparing them for bed.

The husband gets back after hanging out with his friends in the club, he goes in to have his bath while she serve his dinner. He eats and relax watching the TV.
She tries to roundoff in the kitchen and have a bath too while she also tries to relax on the bed to catch a good sleep but before she that, the husband wants attention too in the 'oza' room and she attends to him too before going to bed. She still wakes up in the middle of the night to check on the children in their room. This continues on a daily basis. On weekends, she has to go to the market to stock her refrigerator for the next week.

No free time, no 'me' time, her life is for her children and husband. Her parents don't see her until maybe during Christmas.
Is this a kind of supreme punishment for giving Adam the fruit?
I thought she was supposed to be the weaker vessel, why is reverse the case?
In this part of the world, why does it look like she has super powers?

I lost a friend of mine few weeks ago, a very lovely woman, kind and very gorgeous lady. She slumped after preparing the kids for school on that Tuesday morning. She was rushed to the hospital and few hours later, the news of her death reached me. She was burried the next day which was supposed to be the day planned for her housewarming.

I think as women, we need to pay more attention to ourselves, our health, both physical and mental.
We should ask for help when we need one not forming 'super hero'.
Go to the hospital for check up when you feel strange, don't assume!
Get a maid if you can afford one, not all of them are diabolical, they won't seduce your husband.
Please, you have just this one life, Guard it. If you don't take care of yourself, who will?

Some marriages especially Nigeria marriages are glorified slavery. Where the man thinks that he is doing a woman a favour by marrying her.
To stop this circle we must teach our daughters right. All these a wise women keeps her home at the detriment of hwr health has to stop.

Thank you for putting this down.

You are very correct, that's the word, 'Glorified slavery' as we teach our daughters, we must also teach our sons. There are no female or male chores.
Thank you

Please, medically, is it a man or a woman that produce the Y chromosome?

The misconception that women are solely responsible for producing only female children is something that has eaten deep into the society. Prior to the advent of advanced medical system, it was believed that insofar as the man is active then every other thing is the woman's fault... no one considered if the man was fit to produce or the case of the chromosomes. Well, right now people are getting educated better. However, many village elders still hold the women responsible in cases like this.

I believe one day, women will truly break free from the unnecessary burdens on their shoulders. You've shared a wonderful post here, and I'd love to invite you to leothreads: alpha.leofinance.io. It is Twitter on Hive (for short content) and it is both fun and a perfect way for Engagement on Hive. It'll be nice to see you make some nice thread on #motherhood you know, and I'm sure the Motherhood Leo Curators will also love to see you around.
