Knitting mandalas for gifts (EN-ES)
Happy and blessed week, my dear needle Monday friends. I hope you are feeling great, enjoying health and wellness and that you have enjoyed the weekend to recharge yourselves with the necessary energy to start this Monday with many successful projects.
Many times I have shared in my blog that I like to color mandalas and that in this practice I have achieved a therapy of concentration and relaxation. In addition, painting mandalas I feel that I can enhance my creativity, combining colors, from the softest to the most vibrant, depending on my mood.
So, looking for new projects to knit and thinking about the details I want to elaborate for my mother's mass in September, I found many ideas on the web, but, among so many, the one that caught my attention the most was the mandala knitting.
Feliz y bendecida semana, mis queridos amigos de lunes de aguja. Espero que se encuentren muy bien, gozando de salud y bienestar y que hayan disfrutado del fin de semana para recargarse de las energías necesarias para comenzar este lunes con muchos proyectos exitosos.
Muchas veces he compartido en mi blog que me gusta colorear mandalas y que en esta práctica he conseguido una terapia de concentración y relajación. Además, pintando mandalas siento que puedo potenciar mi creatividad, combinando colores, desde los más suaves hasta los más vibrantes, dependiendo de mi estado de ánimo.
Así pues, buscando nuevos proyectos para tejer y pensando en los detalles que quiero elaborar para la misa de mi madre en el mes de septiembre, encontré en la web muchas ideas, pero, entre tantas, la que más llamó mi atención fue la de tejer mandalas.
I loved this idea because some time ago I read that giving mandalas as a gift is a delicate way to show someone special how much you care. So weaving mandalas to give at the mass would be a reminder of gratitude and a token of affection for all the people who in one way or another have accompanied us in coping with the physical absence of such a special and wonderful being as my mother.
Me encantó esta idea porque hace tiempo leí que regalar mandalas es una forma delicada de demostrar a alguien especial lo mucho que te importa. Así que tejer mandalas para regalar en la misa sería un recordatorio de gratitud y una muestra de cariño para todas las personas que de una manera u otra nos han acompañado a sobrellevar la ausencia física de un ser tan especial y maravilloso como mi madre.
To start this new project, I looked for the embroidery skeins to knit the mandalas with because I think they look more delicate and feel softer to the touch. I also looked for one of the metal crochet hooks that my mother gave me years ago.
So, I started knitting the mandalas with basic stitches: half stockinette stitch, half varetas or high stitch, and single crochet with picot. Knitting these mandalas is easy and, moreover, very fast.
I started knitting them this Sunday afternoon, and I was so enthusiastic that I knitted these four mandalas that I show you today. The most enjoyable and pleasant part was choosing the colors of the skeins to combine in each of the mandalas I was knitting.
Para iniciar este nuevo proyecto, busqué las madejas para bordar y con ellas tejer los mandalas porque me parecen que se ven más delicados y se sienten más suaves al tacto. También busqué uno de los ganchillos de metal que me regaló mi madre hace años.
Así, empecé a tejer los mandalas con puntos básicos: medios puntos altos, medias varetas o puntos altos, puntos rasos con picot. Tejer estos mandalas es sencillo y, además, muy rápido.
Comencé a tejerlos este domingo por la tarde, y me entusiasmé tanto que tejí estos cuatro mandalas que hoy les muestro. Lo más ameno y placentero fue ir escogiendo los colores de las madejas para combinar en cada uno de los mandalas que iba tejiendo.

I am happy to have started this project and to see these woven mandalas. I still don't know what will be the final detail that I will make as a gift, that is, I like it to be something utilitarian or decorative, but I haven't defined it yet.
While I think of something, I will continue knitting and weaving mandalas, because just as it relaxes me, gives me peace and serenity to paint them, it also makes me feel very good to weave them.

Estoy feliz de haber iniciado este proyecto y de ver estos mandalas tejidos. Todavía no sé cuál será el detalle final que voy a hacer para regalar, es decir, me gusta que sea algo utilitario o decorativo, pero no lo tengo definido aún.
Mientras se me ocurre algo, seguiré tejiendo y tejiendo mandalas, pues así como me relaja, me da paz y serenidad pintarlos, también me hace sentir muy bien tejerlos.
