Within the historic botanical garden La Concepción in Málaga is located the so-called Casa Palacio, a mansion that was built when Jorge Loring and Amalia Heredia bought the estate around 1850. It has a neoclassical style and is situated on the top of a hill.

In the 19th century, La Concepción was visited by many important people belonging to the bourgeoisie and for that reason several buildings were built, among them this Casa Palacio.

At the entrance, before going up the stairs, we find a beautiful water fountain in the form of a sculpture of an angel mixed with a mermaid, inside a circular water area surrounded by a lot of nature and vegetation.

At the end of the 19th century, a sport called Lawn Tennis was in vogue. Especially among the bourgeoisie. This sport was practised in the area around the Palace House, where there are large spaces and gardens.

It was what later became known as modern tennis with today's rules.

Wide spaces full of vegetation and flowers can be found when you go down the stairs of the palace, to imagine people playing tennis in those days was very pleasant.

The Palace House was designed as a leisure residence and built by the architect August Orth and has a dimension of more than 1700 square metres, two floors, with a central courtyard.

From the height where it is located, you could see the whole estate, the cathedral of Malaga and even the Mediterranean Sea.

Just to one side of the palace we find what is called El Cenador, built in 1859. It is an iron structure in which beautiful wisteria, a climbing plant that flowers in late March and early April, is intertwined.

It is a species of plant that comes from China and covers the entire structure, climbing the trees and palms that are nearby.

Its flower is lilac in colour and when it blooms it is one of the main attractions of the place, and guided tours are available.

In the same gazebo there are other species of plants, which create a magical and dreamy atmosphere.

The interior of the palace cannot be visited, except for the inner courtyard, but the interior can be seen through your large windows.

Is decorated in the style of the period, including the floor, the fireplace, the armchairs, a beautiful piano, lamps, paintings and photographs.

The central courtyard of the palace has a marble fountain, beautiful galleries.

There are also benches and numerous decorative plants. The roof is a glazed dome distributed in honeycombs to allow the sun and air to pass through.

22.jpg

25.jpg

This palace has numerous halls, several rooms, but also, at the time of construction, it had a wine cellar, billiard room, kitchen, chapel and a large library, which contained numerous books on the history of Malaga.

45.jpg46.jpg

There were also many meetings and gatherings attended by great personalities of the time such as marquises, empresses, different politicians and aristocrats.

Other events included weddings and picnics, excursions and theatre performances.

All these events were always reported in the press at the time.

All around the palace we find railings that allow us to see the gardens below, and in the back area we find more vegetation and a very old and beautiful stone construction containing water.

The palace has undergone several extensions and restorations. Among them those of 2004 and 2007, but later and currently the inner courtyard and the fountain at the entrance, before going up the stairs, have been restored.

An architectural marvel, in the middle of a natural paradise, with a lot of history. Very well preserved and in permanent maintenance. Visited by tourists every day of the year.

I really enjoyed the visit and admired each of the sectors, especially the inner courtyard I loved.

I hope you enjoyed this tour. Best regards to all of you, see you next time.

Malaga looks so lovely, you represent it well. (Sigh) One day I'll make it there. If I keep thinking about it enough it will become a reality right?

Everything is possible Becca, I was once told that if I think about something too much it comes true. It's not only thinking but feeling like I already have it. Everything is possible, dreams are the door to reality. I loved your comment, thank you very much!❤️

Beautiful place, they seem like the right gardens to take refuge from the scorching summer heat. I think that right now in Malaga, temperatures are reaching a very high level. 😘

Exactly, there is a beautiful coolness, in the province of Malaga the heat is terrible, here in the capital it is less but you can still feel it. Thank you @silviared945 ❤️

Wow!
