It was a great surprise for me, of all the times I went to this museum, to enter and be told at the reception that there was a temporary exhibition of Picasso and not only that, but that it was about to end.

20240327_170011.jpg

20240327_170357.jpg

20240327_170400.jpg

Of course I wanted to see it and appreciate every work in the room.

20240327_170418.jpg20240327_170420.jpg

20240327_170435.jpg

The setting was very dark in order to take care of the works there, mostly drawings.

The condition for taking photographs was that I had to take them without flash, so of course there was no problem with that.

This exhibition is being held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Picasso's death. For this reason several departments of the city council, among them the tourism and culture department, joined forces to celebrate this event in this way.

The Museum of Fine Arts, which is located in the museum of the customs house, has always contained works by Picasso, on the initiative of various painters, artists who were able to have access to works by the painter and loans from family members, for example. Most of Picasso's works are donations from other people or loans.

But on this occasion there is something very different from what I have seen in other exhibitions.

Picasso had a personal secretary called Sabartés and he was the one who for many years donated many of the painter's works that he had in his possession, so that we can all appreciate what the painter had done in his life.

Sabartés was very close to Picasso and helped him in his productions. The large number of works that he donated to the museum is impressive and thanks to this, both locals and tourists can enjoy them all.

Amongst these donations, which we can see in this exhibition, are illustrations of Picasso's great passion, bullfighting.

Many drawings with this motif are on display in this exhibition, all worth seeing, and every single detail. Along with the sea and pigeons, bulls and bullfights were something the painter was passionate about and there are many depictions of them.

The illustrations in this section of the exhibition are called Tauromaquia (Bullfighting) and date from 1957.

The contrast with the blue background of the walls brings out their beauty.

Another section is called Fauns and Flora, referring to the works that are related to still life but also fauns.

Some of these drawings have caught my attention, especially the shapes and colours. Although almost all of them are based on geometrical figures, it is very easy to distinguish what they are and what they refer to.

Later on I found a large number of drawings by Picasso about the Antibes, including fauns, centaurs, but also animals like owls and something very beautiful like nymphs.

20240327_171617.jpg

Most of these works date from 1958.

20240327_171057.jpg20240327_171421.jpg

There are two huge representations of fauns or centaurs in the exhibition which are wonderful.

In one corner of the exhibition I could see the section dedicated to women and fauns, with a large number of drawings and lithographs on the subject. The figure of the woman stands out, but also the mixture with nature and the fauns.

In two central sectors of the room there are showcases with beautiful drawings, sketches and lithographs. There are also libraries full of books about Picasso and the themes of the exhibition.

20240327_172024.jpg

20240327_171656.jpg

In a small section a film of Picasso is projected together with a series of photographs that complement the reason for this exhibition.

20240327_171742.jpg

20240327_171815.jpg

Further on there is a special section dedicated to a painting by Picasso that was reproduced on one of the walls, a portrait of the painter's father called The Old Man in the Blanket.

The original is then displayed in a glass case.

20240327_171822.jpg

Next to this is another portrait in graphite.

20240327_171829.jpg

20240327_171728.jpg20240327_171838.jpg

On the walls there are many photographs of the painter and also of the street where the museum is located, specially dedicated to Picasso, photographs taken many years ago.

20240327_171750.jpg

One of the objects that I liked very much is a ceramic jug with a human profile with an owl drawn on it, dating from 1954.

20240327_171846.jpg

Women, fauns, bulls, fantasy, eyes and nature are very present in this exhibition, all themes that I love and it was a pleasure to be able to enjoy the whole tour and admire all these works.

It is also a pleasure to share with all of you this exhibition in commemoration of Picasso.

Best regards to all of you and see you next time.
Amonet.

Ooooh! Ya extrañaba tus visitas al museo 🤩 Sinceramente creo que el arte es subjetivo, pero bueno, igual muchas de estas obras son interesantes y hasta sería capaz de comprarlas para tener en casa, claro, si fuera millonaria 😅

What beautiful works, Picasso was one of the greatest artists in history. I didn't expect that painting of owls haha it could have been any other bird, but they were owls, how cute! 😍 🦉 ❤️

What a great ride Amonet. I really liked the building, especially the interior, the photos are very good (better every day), I would say excellent (I have looked for you reflected in some photo and I have not seen you, ). There is a part of Picasso's work that I love, precisely the inks dedicated to the bulls is one of those parts. They seem to me to have all the strength of the cave paintings, as well as movement. I also like his lithographs, made with a naturalness that seem to be made with a single stroke. Thank you for so much beauty, you have captured it very well. Best regards @avdesign

Good evening @avdesign, the advantages of putting up the streets in the morning is that I sometimes encounter the unexpected. This morning I chatted with a priest and remembered you. I'll let you know, for example tomorrow over mate.
About the post, the photos are formidable, a hug and see you tomorrow.
