Hey people of the hive ! Hope you are doing pretty well. Today’s topic is about the state of esports community in Bangladesh.

Esports in Bangladesh

In Bangladesh people are kinda back dated. Esports is not valued over here.

People are still stuck with the thought that gaming can’t be a career. Parent tells their child that video games aren’t good for them. Parent bears the thought that playing games can’t bring a bright future. Parents won’t allow their children to play games. Even if someone wants to play really good they need good device but their parents won’t provide one. Because for them it is a waste of money and time. They won’t support their children if they want to do something with gaming. Parents only think that only becoming doctor, engineer, lawyer can lead a better life. Of course, studying is important but there is no harm with gaming.

Besides news channel has been making fraud news accusing gamers are becoming aggressive due to playing battleground games also added that it’s teaching them terrorism.

PUBG Mobile and Free Fire

Pubgm and free fire is the top rated game in Bangladesh most popular over here. Both of them are mobile games. PC games are not that much famous in our country. Also pc players are not that much appreciated. In 2018 PUBGM was released and it didn’t have that much craze at first but after quarantine everyone started to spend more time on this game. Also free fire players were increasing. To play PUBGM need a good device otherwise it’s gonna lag. Free fire doesn’t require a good device can easily play on any device. PUBGM is with high quality graphics and free fires graphics quality is not that good. There’s always been a war between PUBGM and Free fire players debating on which is the best game in Bangladesh. People started to have knowledge about esports because of PUBGM.

In 2021 Team called A1 esports represented our country played PUBGM official lan tournament and went Dubai to perform but due to quarantine it was not hosted on the stage. That’s the first time people of our country started have knowledge about esports.

Banning Games

In 2022 Filed a writ petition with the HC seeking directives to take down harmful and addictive games such as PUBG and Free Fire, and also video sharing and streaming apps.

Those two game was banned because parents could not control their kids and blamed the game for their addiction. I think the game has nothing to do with addiction. It’s all about parenting. Growing a stubborn kid and then expecting not to be stubborn and blaming the game for it. Which is a silly thing to do. Their kids ended up purchasing their credits without their permission so it’s the fault of the game. Lack of parents support and lack of good device has lead most of the players to quit gaming.

Gaming is nowadays a crime

In 2022 about 120+ PUBGM players adult and teenager went for a lan tournament at Chuadanga. They were arrested for the accuse of gambling. Which was an invalid information. Their phone was seized and unable to contact their parents or anyone else for help. They asked for NID card those who showed NID ID they arrested them. Those who were under 18 they got released but not immediately. This news was viral on Tv channels.

Esports growth

Recently in Bangladesh esports is growing slowly. Many big lan tournaments were arranged such as Arena of valor , Valorant , FIFA Royale. You can find it in my previous posts. Hoping that soon in Bangladesh esports will be taken seriously with honoured. We are still behind than other countries but one day there will be a future with gaming in this country.

Building Community

To me I think that gaming is our future. Study is also important . But keeping that aside esport has a large amount of profit. The benefits of esports are numerous and varied, and include. Esports is an ideal opportunity for students who are not necessarily interested in traditional athletics but those who want to be a part of a team and learn new skills. For introverts it’s a great opportunity for them to do something without facing anyone in real life. Virtually they can confidently achieve their aims. Esport’s openness to everyone encourages inclusion. Playing together in a shared space whether a shared virtual space or a physical space like an esports arena is the goal of esports, and doing so establishes community, friendship, school spirit, and a sense of belonging. It’s the new beginning for our new generation. I am also a gamer and I am not giving up on my dreams no matter what.
