Why do I wear mask?

There is a common question I have been always asked that why do I wear mask? Is it because I am insecure about my look? Lack of confidence? Or there are any other reason behind it?

Reasons

I have always wanted to become the biggest female gamer from Bangladesh. I am a introvert and I was afraid of the camera then I took inspiration from Marshmello how he never revealed his identity and still soo much famous for his skills. So I thought of wearing mask while doing live stream.

Actually it’s my personal choice as a content creator I never wanted to mix my personal life with social media. I don’t like the idea of posting my every details on social. Recently AI is a curse for everyone! Some people lack ethics and they are trying to downgrade people through it. I find it very unsafe to be revealed on social media. On social media I have proven that someone can be a famous content creator and have a huge fanbase without revealing their face. Actually for my fanbase my face is not the main thing I do gaming and they love my gameplay that’s all they care about they are fan of my gaming not eager about how I look.

I also got sponsored without showing my face, this T-shirt is sponsored by a clothing brand “Skyline Clothing.”

I also get Jersey from gaming community of many teams for promotion. People has accepted me the way I am. I don’t need face publicity because I am known through my mask anyone can recognise me through my eyes and mask they have memorised me a face with a mask. Sometimes, my fans would see any girl with a mask then they would text me if it was me, many funny incidents I have faced.

Many content creators had started using mask during their live stream and I was their inspiration they were afraid in-front of camera at first but later on with my idea they got the courage to do it with mask. I started mask trend in Bangladesh gaming community. I had 35 followers on Facebook but recently my page got disabled somehow and I could never have it back because it’s a centralized platform.

I have a personal life there are some moments I only want to spend with my family and friends and not get any disturbed by anyone. Fans are crazy they are bound to cross every limits and I can’t let anyone break into my privacy and start judging me. I want a peaceful personal life where I can be a normal and not being treated like a celebrity. Also I have seen many complaining about paparazzi following celebrities everywhere.

In real life only my few friends and family members know that I am content creator on social media and I do gaming. Because some might not be my real friends they might want to reveal me so I never told them that I have a fanbase or I am famous or anything like that. In my class when they talk about gaming I would say I don’t play games I have to stay careful in order to protect my identity.

Disadvantages

Yeah there are many disadvantages for me wearing a mask, I can’t eat in-front of those who knows me because I don’t want to reveal in-front of them I do eat at public restaurants but I know that they don’t know me so it doesn’t bother me at all. But for my fan followers I want to stay as a mystery. When there are senior content creators are asking me to have food despite knowing that I can’t reveal my face it’s very hard to turn down their offer.

In summer I sweat a lot yet I have to keep the mask on. I have eyesight problem so when I need to wear my glasses it’s foggy and I have to put my glasses off but still I won’t stop using my mask.

Offensive comments

Being famous brings out soo many fan followers and also haters. People would make fun by saying I have some problem on my face maybe I don’t look good that’s why I am hiding. Some will say I must not have teeth or brushed my teeth maybe my breath smells bad. Why I am covering my face when I want to be a content creator? Besides I have seen some boys praised me in the comment section and their girl friends would come and say “if you ever see her face then you won’t like her anymore”. Those hateful comments has never stopped me from growing because I have such a big supportive fan followers they will always support me no matter what and I always want to look at the positive side and not think about the negative ones.

I think it doesn’t matter how someone looks like it’s all about the personality which matters the most. I was having a thought if I would ever be recognised without the mask? I think I wouldn’t be this much highlighted without the mask and this much hype and curiosity I have created just by using the mask. Right now this mask is my identity!
