Wednesday Walk - Plan Gone Wrong

I became closer with my friends again since I came back here in Bacolod this summer, wherein, it was also the season of graduations and the closing of classes. If I have just continued my studies before, I would be one of those students who were graduating, too; marching up to the stage and receiving their diplomas. One of those who graduated are my friends. I'm not jealous, I'm happy for them.

Last time, at my friend's birthday we were talking about going to the newly built library at the entrance of Paglaum Sports Complex at the back of Negros Occidental High School (our previous school). All of them are working yet still reviewing for their upcoming Board Exams. They plan to review there at their free time but they don't have the time to check if the library is spacious enough to accomodate them all and if they can stay there all day. I volunteered to go since I'm not that busy.
Also, I always wanted to go to Bamboo Orange —a cafe near the school, since I came back. I just miss the place because we often have meetings there for research and church stuffs.

Since I was living near the Capitol Road and I'm just new there, I'm not yet familiar with the routes of Jeepneys. The ones that I remember back then has changed a lot right now. I got lost twice and passed by my destination twice already without noticing it.

I got off here in the street where the Elementary Schools are and is walking straight towards the library since it was just a walking distance but jeepneys don't pass by that route anymore. That, I don't know why since a lot of jeepneys were passing by on that route back then.

This is the Library Hub, the student's favorite place to study, research and print their documents. They offer free usage of computers for research purposes, but the maximum duration is only an hour per student so that a lot of students can benefit. They also offer cheaper prices for printing documents back then, that's why we often came here instead of going to computer shops. We also use this place to just read, chat, or sleep on our vacant period. Me and my friends were regulars here back then.

If you walk by this street straight, you will be reaching the downtown and the public plaza in just 10 minutes. I'm not heading that way, though. I'm walking to another street across the road.

Now, I know why Jeepneys don't passed by on my destination anymore. It is under construction! Lolz.

It is already just a one-way route, so jeepneys can't really pass by here. This will lead to the Market at the end of the street supposedly, and a good shortcut for jeepneys and the people. Unfortunately, the other lane is still under construction. Only private cars have the courage to pass by this road that is full of holes.

This the back of my previous school. I can still see my previous classroom from the outside. The murals on the wall were changed also. I felt sad seeing that since my classmates were the one who painted that wall back then. But well, that was 4 years ago, maybe it already faded that's why they changed it.

Finally, I arrived at the place. Welcome to Rafael M. Salas Memorial Library!

If you could only saw how my eyes shined when I saw it, but it fades in an instant when I asked the guards if I could come in. How come? They let those politicians use this place during election campaigns last May. It turns out that they are not yet open for visitors but only for government officials. That was disappointing.

I walked back and turned right to Bamboo Orange where I wanted to have an iced coffee. As I said earlier, I just missed the place. It was nostalgic seeing it. Yet, it is another disappointment. They are closed for rennovations. Why is that most of the establishments in this street are under rennovations? I saw some restaurants beside the road that is under rennovations, too. I have a bad timing going here. Now, I have to walk to the downtown to catch a ride home.

That's too bad Ayane! I might be in a grumpy state if my plans are not being accomplished as they should be. Tsk.

But a trip to memory lanes is truly bliss. I think the last time that I went to my old school was for the reunion that we had other than that, never consider visiting the place anymore.

We can have our reunion after 10 years pa, and that would be around 2028. We can visit the school anytime pero ang awkward lang, daming magtatanong, "May kailangan ka dito, Ate?" 😄

It's okay @ayane-chan atleast you had a great walk and saw it again. You can try again next time and hopefully all the renovations were done and visitors will be allowed to enter..

They are preparing for the Masskara Festival I think, since we can celebrate again physically after the pandemic.
