The dull walls were used as canvases for artists to paint on.
Mural is art made on walls, similar to graffiti.

I took advantage of my meeting with some residents in an alley who were spending their time making a mural of the city landscape of Jakarta.

Behind the dull walls of the building, some residents have turned it into a beautiful mural art that adorns the alleys in the middle of downtown Jakarta.

It looks very beautiful with paintings of shady trees, with a city setting it looks harmonious.
